Autodesk Centre of Competence for Virtual Design

Autodesk, an American multinational software corporation that makes software for the architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media, and entertainment industries has collaborated with Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), to set up truly state of the art Design & Innovation Centre.

This will be a central facility intended for use by both under-graduate and post-graduate students and faculty members of Dayananda Sagar University. Both DSU and Autodesk will also undertake short term courses for industry in the areas of CAD/CAM/CAE & 3D printing in Architecture, Engineering and Construction domain.

This design & innovation center has 16 state of the art graphics workstations with multiple licenses of the entire suite of Autodesk softwares running on them. These includes Autodesk AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Alias Studio, Autodesk Revit Architecture, Autodesk Revit Structure and Autodesk Revit MEP.

This facility will help in developing innovative design skills among our students and to create a sustained pool of skilled manpower in the country. Both Autodesk and DSU will work together to proactively create training modules on latest design technologies, in particular for the Mechanical, Civil and Aeronautical disciplines.

Students at DSU will also receive access to the global Autodesk Student Engineering and Design Community portal to download the free software they need to bring their designs to life. The student community also allows students and faculty to stay updated with the latest 3D design technologies and industry best practices, engage with other students around the world on design projects, and even search for career opportunities.

This centre will focus on providing hands on training to the students and faculty members in the Virtual Design techniques. Candidates after successful training will be offered a joint completion certificate by Autodesk and DSU-Autodesk Centre.

Traditional design methodology has undergone a sea change in conceptualization, development and optimization of the design. All these phases are done virtually in order to be agile and lean. The centre of Competence for Virtual Design provides necessary skill sets to the students to make them capable of meeting Industry requirements through knowledge in various design methodologies using Virtual Design software tools.

Autodesk, Inc. is a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software. Customers across manufacturing, architecture, building, construction, and media and entertainment industries use Autodesk software to design, visualize, and simulate their ideas before they're ever built or created. The Centre provides platform for use of all the Autodesk tools to make the students competent enough to virtually design various Industry requirements.

Digital Prototyping using Autodesk Inventor Digital Prototyping is a Movement happening now that expresses the ultimate in sustainable thinking allowing people to Conceive, Design, Engineer, Simulate, Visualize and validate Manufacturing processes in a Digital environment

Building Information Modelling (BIM)
BIM is an intelligent model-based process Autodesk BIM solutions provide insight for creating and managing building and infrastructure projects faster, more economically, and with less environmental impact.
