About CJMC

CJMC was the first media department in the country in 2016 to make a foray into digital media offering full courses in online journalism and digital communication,including training in social media marketing. It aimed to produce a vibrant group of young and modern mass media professionals, by blending theory and practice and inculcating a keen sense of social responsibility by promoting universal human values, and infuse new media skills in students, that will enable them to pursue cutting-edge opportunities in an era of media convergence.

About
The Programme

Our 3-year BA-JMC programme exposes you to 8 different career pathways: Journalism, Video Production, Advertising & Marketing Communications, Social Media Marketing, Media Research, English Literature, Psychology and Theatre. After receiving basic training in all critical modules over the first two years, you will choose 1 of the 3 specialisations and major in that area. A two-month-long internship at the end of the 3rd year – which we will help you find – could actually see you getting job offers! The 4th year will help you round off your theoretical and practical skills with Honours and Research Honours options.


Admissions Eligibility

Applicants must have passed 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade, or an equivalent qualification. Students from all streams, including Arts, Science, and Commerce, are eligible, provided they fulfill the passing requirements.

Saanya Iyer

Actress and Model

Saanya Iyer, also known as Sainya Iyer, is a well-known actress and model in Kannada entertainment industry. She hails from a family with deep roots in the arts—her mother, Deepa Iyer, is an actress, and her father, Sudesh K. Rao, is a director. Saanya pursued BA-JMC at Dayananda Sagar University, building a solid foundation for her career. She began as a child actor, gaining recognition for her role in the serial Putta Gowri Maduve (2012) and has since appeared in shows and films like Mukha Putta and Vimukhti.


Vasuki Vaibhav

Composer and Singer

Vasuki Vaibhav is a composer and singer, music director and actor in Kannada films. He became recognised after appearing in Rama Rama Re. He was the second runner-up of Big Boss Kannada Season 7. He has also worked in acclaimed Kannada film, Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shaale, has worked as music director of several films. He also writes lyrics.






Amrutha Uppar

Actress

Amrutha Uppar is a talented Kannada actress known for her dynamic journey across television, music, and films. Hailing from Ballari, she holds a Journalism & Mass Communication degree from DSU's College of Journalism & Mass Communication (CJMC). Starting as a host and reality show participant, Amrutha transitioned to notable roles in TV series like Gowri Purada Gayaligalu and Bhagyalakshmi. Her film career includes Kathru Karma Kriya and Elakunni, showcasing her versatility. A state-level trained classical singer and dancer, she continues to excel in diverse artistic endeavors

Veechika, a DSU CJMC graduate, shines by participating in ABC's prestigious Women in News and Sports (WINS) Initiative in Delhi.



Vennela G S, an alumna from the 2018 batch, has achieved an outstanding milestone by ranking 7th out of 663 students in the MSc Business with Marketing program at the renowned University of Warwick, consistently ranked among the top 100 universities globally.

Kartikeya Chaturvedi , a DSU CJMC student represented CJMC in the G20 Summit held by Prasar Bharati and Akashvani, held in collaboration with CHRIST UNIVERSITY, Bengaluru.


Diya Sharma from CJMC earned a medal for her stellar EMCEE performance at the International Conference on Quality Education 2024 at DSU's Harohalli Campus.


CJMC students attended the PRCAI Dialogues at Bangalore's Museum of Art and Photography on Nov 26, featuring a gallery tour and a chat with MAP founder Abhishek Poddar, Manipal Foundation CEO Harinarayan Sharma, and moderator Nidhi Agarwal.
