ELIGIBILITY

Students who have completed Two Years of pre-university courses in Karnataka or Passed 10+2 (Recognized National Boards), A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST & OBC category) are eligible to seek Admission to B. Com.

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the program is four years, spread over eight semesters to achieve a B. Com (Honours) Degree.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

The medium of instruction and examination shall be English.

DRESS CODE

The students are expected to adapt to the dress code specified by the school and be smartly turned out at all times. Students must wear uniforms on Monday and Thursday and must be in their formal uniform for all formal occasions and whenever they represent the school. Students will always wear their Identity Cards.

They can exercise roles of Finance and Accounting Managers within companies, Budgeting Managers, Investment Managers, Costing Manger, Payable Managers or Receivable Managers, Portfolio/Fund Managers, Financial Controllers, Treasurers, Tax analyst and Chief Finance Officers.

Students aspiring to higher education after B. Com have vast avenues for pursuing their Masters's in the field of Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Taxation and Investment Management across the Globe.

The program is designed to provide strong foundation skills required in administering the corporate Core functions such as Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Taxation, Marketing, Human Resource, supply chain management and Business Analytics, including exposure to logical skills in these areas. The program is a mix of traditional and new-age subjects designed in a way that students can develop business and digital skills, financial literacy and managerial skills.

As per National Education Policy (2020), the program involves eight semesters based on CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) Model involving Ability Enhancement Courses, Core courses, Skill Enhancement Courses, Vocational courses and open electives.

The program also involves various Co-curricular and Extra Curricular activities such as yoga, sports, cultural activities, Health and wellness programs, NSS, organizational study, and CSR internships which aim to improve leadership, communication and team-building skills among students.

B. Com (Honours)

The students who successfully complete four years/eight semesters and satisfy the minimum credit requirement as per NEP guidelines will be awarded BCom (Honours).

B. Com (Honours with Research)- Eligibility

The students who secure 75% marks and above in the first six semesters and wish to undertake research at the undergraduate level can choose a research stream in the fourth year. They should do a research project or dissertation under the guidance of a university faculty member. The research project/dissertation will be in the major discipline. The students, who secure 160 credits, including 12 credits from a research project/dissertation, are awarded UG UG Degree (Honours with Research).

B. Com with ACCA specialization at Dayananda Sagar University is a globally recognized accountancy qualification from the UK. B. Com with ACCA program helps the students to get an exemption from the first six papers of ACCA. Since the curriculum is already embedded in the B.Com syllabus, the students can finish the ACCA Professional qualification along with a BCom degree.

ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is an International Professional Accounting Body which has members and students in over 173 countries. It has 162,000 members and 428,000 students, with a global network of 89 offices and activity centres. It is recognized and respected by over 8,500 Approved Employers and has over 109 years of experience and a proven reputation for quality and excellence.

The student must write seven external papers to get the ACCA qualification out of 13 papers.

The qualification is structured in two parts.

• F7 Financial Reporting,

EXAM STRUCTURE

Students are required to write papers in any order. Each paper is of 100 marks, which is a combination of multiple-choice and essay-type questions. Students require a minimum of 51% in each paper to clear the exams; ACCA exams can be taken up in Pro metric centres across major Indian cities. The ACCA exams may be taken in any of the four testing windows each year - (i)March, (ii) June (iii) September. iv) December.

B. Com with US-based CMA (Certified Management Accountant) at Dayananda Sagar University is a professional certification in finance & accounting which is a globally recognized, advanced-level credential appropriate for accountants and financial professionals in business. The program comprises papers offered by Dayananda Sagar University along with papers combined with CMA, which entails a student completing the CMA qualification alongside their B.Com.

SCMS, Dayananda Sagar University B. Com program is in joint association with the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), USA, which is a worldwide association of accountants and financial professionals which offers the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification program. The CMA designation is a highly respected credential for finance and accounting professionals, and it provides an objective measure of an individual's knowledge and competence in the fields of management accounting and financial management. CMAs have extensive career opportunities with MNCs worldwide.

CMA PROGRAM DETAILS

CMA qualification has two exam parts, namely,

Part 1 Financial Planning, Performance, and Analytics

Part 2 Strategic Financial Management

These two parts are divided into five courses which are offered in the first four semesters.

EXAM STRUCTURE

Students are required to write two papers in any order. Each paper is of 500 marks, which is a combination of multiple-choice and essay-type questions. Students require a minimum of 75% in each paper to clear the exams, i.e., 375 out of 500. CMA exams can be taken up in Prometric centres across major Indian cities. The CMA exams may be taken in any of the three testing windows each year - (i) January & February, (ii) May & June (iii) September & October.
