Industrial Visit to Akshaya Patra Foundation, VK Hill Bengaluru on 23rd October, 2025
The students of the MBA 2025–27 cohort undertook an enriching industrial visit to the Akshaya Patra Foundation, ISKCON, VK Hill, Bengaluru. The visit coordinated by Prof. Navita Vijay and Dr. Parthasarathi, offered students first-hand insights into large-scale operations management, social entrepreneurship, and sustainable organizational practices.
The students were given a comprehensive tour of the food processing facility, visiting all four floors of the plant. Operations at each section were systematically explained by the supervisors, who detailed the processes and workflow at every stage of the food preparation and distribution units.
During the visit, students explored the Foundation’s state-of-the-art kitchen facility, which exemplifies efficiency, hygiene, and innovation in large-scale meal preparation. The team from Akshaya Patra shared valuable perspectives on logistics, supply chain management, and technology integration that enable the preparation and distribution of wholesome meals to millions of school children across India every day.
The one hour briefing session was facilitated by Mr. Kaushik from TAPF. The interactive session allowed the MBA students to connect academic concepts with real-world applications and understand the impact of strategic management in nonprofit settings. The visit concluded with a note of appreciation to the Akshaya Patra team for their hospitality and inspiring work, and to the faculty coordinators for facilitating this experiential learning opportunity.
Industry Visit to BEML Ltd. on 30th August 2025
The School of Commerce and Management Studies (SCMS) at Dayananda Sagar University organized an Industry Visit to BEML Limited, Bangalore, on 30th August 2025. The industry visit is organised as a part of their practical learning and industry exposure program. The visit was organized to provide students with insights into the functioning of a leading public sector company engaged in manufacturing equipment for sectors such as defence, mining, construction, and rail.
During the visit, students were given an overview of the company’s history, operations, and strategic role in national development. They observed the state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and assembly lines, which demonstrated the integration of advanced technology and quality standards in heavy engineering. The interaction with company officials offered valuable knowledge on operational efficiency, supply chain management, and the challenges of operating in a highly competitive and technology-driven environment.
This visit not only enriched the students’ understanding of industrial practices but also bridged the gap between classroom concepts and real-world applications. The experience was highly beneficial in strengthening their managerial perspectives and will contribute significantly to their academic and professional growth.

Industry Visit to TVS Motor Company (3 – Wheeler Plant) on 26th & 29th August 2025
The School of Commerce and Management Studies (SCMS) at Dayananda Sagar University organized an Industry Visit to TVS Motor Company on 26th and 29th August,2025 for the 2nd Semester students of MBA course. The objective of the visit was to bridge classroom learning with practical industry exposure and to gain insights into the functioning of a leading automobile manufacturing unit.
During the visit, students were oriented on the history and growth of TVS Motor Company, followed by a guided tour of the 3-wheeler production line. The visit provided a detailed understanding of manufacturing operations, quality control processes, lean management practices, supply chain coordination, and safety standards maintained at the plant. The visit was facilitated by Saba Samreen, who is IVIP lead in TVS Motor Company.
Students also observed the integration of technology, automation, and sustainability practices in the production process. The interaction with the plant officials enriched their knowledge of operations management, logistics, and workforce efficiency, which are critical components in management studies.
Overall, the industry visit proved to be an enriching learning experience, linking theoretical concepts with real-time industrial practices. It not only enhanced students’ understanding of the automobile sector but also highlighted the role of effective management in large-scale manufacturing.

MBA Students from SCMS-PG attended INNOVASTHAN – “Vichar to Vikas” Yatra at Shangri-La, Bengaluru
On 28th June 2025, at Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru, 8 MBA students from SCMS PG along with faculty Dr Silky Sharma attended the event INNOVASTHAN – “Vichar to Vikas” Yatra. A landmark initiative, led by the Council for Industrial and Innovation Research (CIIR), is dedicated to strengthening India’s innovation and intellectual property ecosystem by connecting Higher Education Institutions, Startups, MSMEs, and Policymakers under a unified vision of collaborative growth and nation-building. Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka Sh. Thawar Chand Gehlot Ji inaugurated the event as the Chief Guest. Prof. R Janardhan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, DSU represented DSU in this landmark event led by CII.
Dean - SCMS, Capt A Nagaraj Subbarao, PhD shared that the event added tremendous value to the dialogue and inspired stakeholders from across the country who are driving innovation at the grassroots and institutional level. This important journey from “Vichar to Vikas” was graced by industry experts, startups entrepreneurs, policymakers, academicians and consultants.
Management Development Program
SCMS PG is conducted its first Management Development Program for 2025 on March 22, titled "Balancing Between a World Driven by Efficiency to a World Driven by Change & the Role of Projects for Creating Value,"
How do potential leaders disassociate from the mundane daily functions and focus on strategic change?
The MDP conducted in the hybrid mode was attended by twenty five managers from various organisations like Buhler India, ABB, JP Morgan, HCL Tech, TE Connectivity and Honeywell. Resource persons were Prof M G Raghuraman, Adjunct Faculty, Prof Nagaraj Subbarao and Prof Sai Ganesh, from SCMS PG.

Discussion by SCMS faculty members on Key Learnings from the Technology Showcasing and Networking Meet on CFTRI Food and Millet Technologies
During the two-day event "Technology Showcasing and Networking Meet of CFTRI Food and Millet Technologies" held at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru (19-20 September 2024), organized by CSIR-NIScPR in collaboration with UBA and VIBHA, several important insights emerged. These were discussed during the research and publication review meeting at the School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University. The key learnings include:
Contributions to Combating Malnutrition: CSIR-CFTRI's significant efforts in addressing malnutrition were highlighted, with innovations such as infant food from buffalo milk, parboiling rice technology, virgin coconut oil, spice and oil processing, and automation solutions for traditional foods like dosa, idli, ragi ball and chapatti.
Nutraceutical Research and Skill Development: The institute's ongoing work in nutraceutical research, along with its initiatives to bridge the skills gap in the food industry, was emphasized. Courses like the M.Sc. in Food Technology and the International School of Milling Technology play a vital role in this regard.
Technological Advances: Key technological advancements in fruit and vegetable processing, grains, traditional foods, and spices were showcased.
Funding Schemes for Agriculture: The event also shed light on various funding schemes such as the PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME), Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), and Retail Asset Credit Centre (RACC), which support the establishment of agricultural units.
Field Visit Report
The field visit to Chilur Village, Harohalli Taluk, Ramanagara District, on January 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:45 PM, was conducted under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) initiative. Led by Dr. Sagar M., Associate Professor (Economics & Business Analytics) at Dayananda Sagar University, the visit aimed to provide MBA students from the School of Commerce & Management Studies with insights into rural economic activities and development challenges.
Objective of the Visit:
The field visit to Chilur village was organized as part of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), a flagship program aimed at connecting higher educational institutions with rural communities to address rural development challenges. The visit was designed to provide MBA students with insights into rural economic activities, socio-economic issues, and development initiatives. The primary objectives were:
- To assess the socio-economic conditions of the village community.
- To interact with local farmers and gain an understanding of their agricultural practices, challenges, and opportunities.
- To observe the implementation of government schemes and rural infrastructure projects.
Key Activities:
- Introduction and Orientation (9:00 AM - 10:00 AM): The visit commenced with an orientation session, where Dr. Sagar M. briefed the students about the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan initiative and its significance in fostering rural-urban collaborations. The students were divided into groups for focused discussions and field observations.
- Interaction with Farmers (10:15 AM - 12:30 PM): The students interacted with local farmers to understand the agricultural practices in the village, with a specific focus on crops like ragi, maize, and vegetables. The challenges faced by farmers, such as water scarcity, fluctuating prices, and lack of market access, were discussed. Dr. Sagar M. facilitated discussions on how innovative agricultural techniques, cooperative marketing, and government schemes could mitigate these challenges.
- Village Walk and Observation (12:45 PM - 2:00 PM): A guided village walk allowed the students to observe the local infrastructure, including irrigation systems, primary health centers, schools, and transportation facilities. They noted the condition of basic amenities and the areas where improvement was required. Emphasis was placed on understanding how rural infrastructure directly impacts economic productivity and quality of life.
- Feedback Session and Discussions (2:15 PM - 3:30 PM): The students gathered for a feedback session, where they discussed their observations and insights. Dr. Sagar M. encouraged students to propose sustainable solutions for the challenges faced by the villagers. Ideas on improving market access for agricultural products, promoting agro-processing units, and enhancing financial literacy among farmers were explored.
- Conclusion (3:30 PM - 3:45 PM): The visit concluded with a thank-you note to the villagers for their hospitality. Dr. Sagar M. emphasized the importance of rural engagement for future business leaders and highlighted the role that MBA graduates can play in rural development and policy formulation.

Each One Teach One
On January 8, 2025, the School of Commerce and Management Studies (SCMS), Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru, students and faculty organized an impactful outreach event, Each One Teach One, under the guidance of Dean-SCMS Capt. A. Nagaraj Subbarao. This initiative aimed to educate students at the Government Higher Primary School, Singasandra, on essential topics such as hygiene, basic manners, and personal safety. Additionally, the event included the distribution of pencils, erasers, and sharpeners to the children. During the event, student volunteers from SCMS actively engaged with 340 schoolchildren through various activities. This initiative exemplified SCMS's commitment to community service. Teaching essential life skills to young students contributed to their personal development and fostered a sense of responsibility among the student volunteers. The success of this event underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in nurturing future generations and highlights the positive impact that the social outreach program can have on local communities. The social outreach program was managed by Dr Shweta Tewari, Associate Professor and Dr Abhijit Das, Assistant Professor under the aegis of Club Prabhāva.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO UNIVERSAL FLEXIBLE PVT LTD, Dobespet Plant
On 16th October 2024, the School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University organized an industry visit for MBA students under the guidance of Dean-SCMS Capt. A. Nagaraj Subbarao. As part of their management course, students from the first year had the opportunity to visit the Universal Flexible Pvt Ltd manufacturing facility in Dobespet. This visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into a leading machine tool manufacturing unit’s processes and operational efficiencies. Prof. Purnendu Maji, the coordinator of the event, accompanied 37 students to ensure the successful execution of this industry visit.
Ms. V. Radhakrishnan, at Universal Flexibles Pvt Ltd, provided an in-depth discussion on their Operations, emphasizing its continuous efforts towards sustainability and addressing factors to ensure growth.
The event garnered enthusiastic participation from students, providing invaluable opportunities to deepen their understanding of the subject. Key learnings from the event included insights into supply chain practices, operational strategies, the importance of social factors, and continuous innovations to ensure organizational growth.

Project IKEA: An Experiential Learning Initiative
Project IKEA is an experiential learning exercise under the aegis of COPE- SCM (Centre of Proficiency Enhancement- Supply Chain Management), SCMS (PG) and the guidance of Dean – SCMS, Capt. A. Nagaraj Subbarao, PhD.
Organized by the School of Commerce and Management Studies at Dayananda Sagar University, this industrial visit involves around 100 students and is conducted in 3 phases on 12th August, 13th August, and 27th August 2024.
MBA postgraduate students visited IKEA Store located at Nagasandra, Bengaluru, Karnataka, accompanied by faculty members Professor Silky Sharma and Mr Raghavendra Rao on 12th August. On 13th August, Professor Navita Vijay and Professor Purnendu Maji accompanied the students for this industrial visit. The students explored various aspects of IKEA’s business, including its operations, marketing strategies, inventory management, Storage Management and customer engagement practices. Through this visit, students gained valuable insights into global retail practices, enhancing their practical knowledge in the field of management. The experience will serve as a crucial supplement to their academic studies, providing a comprehensive understanding of how a global brand like IKEA operates and succeeds in a competitive market.
Social Outreach Program "Hope Camp" by SCMS at Govt School Singasandra
A Hope Camp was organized by the School of Commerce and Management Studies (SCMS) on 16th July 2024 to distribute essential school stationeries among 330 students of the Government Higher Primary School, Singasandra. The camp, held under the guidance of Dean-SCMS Capt. A. Nagaraj Subbarao, aimed to support underprivileged children in the local community. Faculty members Dr. Shweta Tewari and Dr. Abhijit Ranjan Das coordinated the event, which saw enthusiastic participation from SCMS students. The donated items included notebooks, pens, pencils, and other necessary stationeries to help the children continue their education. The Hope Camp exemplifies SCMS's commitment to social responsibility and making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
SCMS MBA STUDENTS – INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO TVS MOTORS HOSUR UNIT
On 7th August 2024, the MBA PG students, School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University as part of their Operations Management course, had the opportunity to visit the TVS Motors manufacturing facility in Hosur. This visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into a leading automotive company's manufacturing processes and operational efficiencies. TVS Motors, known for its range of motorcycles, scooters, and three-wheelers, exemplifies excellence in manufacturing and innovation. The visit to the TVS Motors facility took place at the Houser unit. The group comprised students along with 2 faculty members from Dayananda Sagar University. Mrs. Sushma, Team lead of L&D from TVS Motors, briefed the students about the safety protocols to be followed during the tour.

SCMS MBA Students Visit Titan Engineering & Automation Limited
On April 17, 2024, PG Students from MBA program from School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University visited Titan Engineering and Automation Limited (TEAL) at their Hosur Road facility. TEAL, established in 2004, started with automating watch manufacturing and has expanded into sectors like transportation, energy, and consumer products. They also provide specialized manufacturing solutions for the aerospace, defence, and semiconductor industries.
Mr. Ramasamy, Head of Operations/Quality, led the visit and provided a detailed overview of TEAL’s operations and their contributions to various industries. The main objective of this visit was to learn about automation solutions, manufacturing processes, and quality control measures in a leading engineering company. During the visit, Mr. Ramasamy, and Mr. Jose, Head of Sales, explained various management processes, including operation management, supply chain management, and quality management at TEAL. Students toured the state-of-the-art production facility, equipment, machinery, and manufacturing processes, guided by TEAL representatives. They also spoke with shop floor executives to understand different processes and daily management practices. Prof. Purnendu Maji from SCMS-DSU coordinated for the visit and accompanies the 41 MBA students.
As shared by Dean- SCMS, Capt. A Nagaraj Subba Rao, this industrial visit gave students valuable insights into automation and manufacturing. It emphasized the importance of precision, quality control, and continuous improvement in engineering and automation. The experience not only expanded the students' understanding of industrial practices but also inspired many to consider careers in this dynamic field.
National Integration Camp
The NSS students of SCMS-PG MBA Program attended the National Integration Camp held at KSRDPRU University Campus, Nagavi, Gadag, Karnataka from 14th to 20th March 2024. The camp was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and aimed to promote unity, cultural exchange, and leadership among young volunteers from different states. Throughout the 7-day event, attendees engaged in discussions, sports activities, and community projects to foster understanding and friendship. The camp successfully encouraged harmony and social awareness among India's youth, emphasizing the importance of unity in diversity. Overall, the NSS National Integration Camp 2024 was a resounding success in nurturing a sense of national pride and communal harmony among its participants. The camp was indeed a transformative experience for all participants.
Industry Visit to Blueneem Medical Devices
The School of Commerce and Management Studies at Dayananda Sagar University prioritizes a comprehensive approach to education, exemplified by the integration of industrial visits into the MBA curriculum. On March 15, 2024, students along with Faculty coordinator Prof. Purnendu Maji embarked on a transformative visit to Blueneem Medical Devices Private Limited. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and their practical applications in the real world. Blueneem, renowned for its excellence in designing, developing, and manufacturing minimally invasive medical devices, warmly welcomed the students, providing them with an immersive learning experience.
Throughout the visit, executives guided students through various sections of the manufacturing facility, offering insights into operational strategies, quality management protocols, and production processes. This firsthand exposure not only enhanced their understanding of fundamental management principles but also instilled in them a deeper appreciation for the intricacies of the industry. Such experiential learning opportunities underscore the university's commitment to nurturing well-rounded professionals equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for success in the dynamic business landscape of today.

Industrial Visit to IFB Industries by MBA Students
Under the guidance of Dean School of Commerce & Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University Capt. A. (Prof.) Nagaraj Subbarao, MBA Students led by a team of faculty members made a visit to IFB Industries Ltd, a leading mechanical components manufacturing company located in Malur, Karnataka on 16th August 2023. The students gained the practical insights into the manufacturing processes of Mechanical parts used in automobiles. They gained a deeper understanding about Production processes, Quality Control, Technological advancements, 5 S policy at workplace, CSR initiatives and other best practices of the organization. Overall, students learnt about the processes helping the company's vision and commitment to achieve innovation, quality, and sustainability.
The visit to IFB was a great learning experience for students and accompanying faculties of DSU in terms of achieving the intended learning outcomes and exposing the students to real-world industrial practices.
