Business Plan Competition held on 5th and 8th April, 2024
The Business Plan Competition was organized by School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University on April 5th and 8th, 2024, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 21 teams comprising students from the VI Semester BBA program. The event provided a platform for budding entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative business ideas and strategies. The competition spanned two days, during which participants presented their business plans before esteemed judges, Dr. Rajesh M Kalli and Mr. Prakruti Banavasi.
Each team displayed commendable enthusiasm and dedication, presenting well-thought-out business plans encompassing various industries and sectors. The competition witnessed a diverse range of business ideas, reflecting the innovative spirit and entrepreneurial mindset of the participants. From technology startups to sustainable ventures, the presentations covered a wide array of domains. Dr. Truptha Shankar, Assistant Dean of the School of Commerce, provided invaluable feedback and constructive criticism to the participants. The Business Plan Competition served as a platform for fostering innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit among the students’.
AIMA Management Simulation Games - March 20th, 2024
The AIMA Management Simulation game took place on March 20th, 2024, organized specifically for undergraduate students of SCMS. Mr. Mohan Srinivasan the resource person emphasized the purpose of the Workshop and later provided instructions on how the simulation game works. Initially, students felt perplexed and inexperienced, but with patient guidance from the faculty, they smoothly navigated through the first quarter.
The workshop encouraged interaction without the pressure of achieving the best results within strict time constraints, allowing students to enjoy the process at their own pace. Its primary goal was to foster learning and practical experience. Covering various business aspects like finances, marketing, operations, and human resources, the game provided a platform for students to apply theoretical knowledge practically. Divided into 4-5 quarters, it taught resource allocation, financial management, and strategic planning to achieve profitability while balancing investments and expenditures.
Debate Competition Organized by the Management Club of SCMS
The Management Club of the School of Commerce and Management Studies (SCMS) organized a debate competition on 15th February 2024 at the C D Sagar Auditorium. The competition aimed to enhance students' critical thinking, communication skills, and teamwork, focusing on topics related to technology, education, and the environment.
Six teams, comprised of enthusiastic students, participated in the competition. The teams engaged in debates on topics related to technology, education and environment. The competition consisted of three rounds, including a preliminary round, semifinal round and a final round. Each team presented well-researched arguments, supported by relevant examples and data, showcasing their understanding of the topics and their implications in the respective fields.
The judging panel, consisting of Prof. Prakruthi Banavasi and Dr. Gulab, evaluated the teams based on their content, presentation, and ability to rebut opposing arguments. After deliberation, they declared the winners and runners-up. Both the winning team and the runners-up were from the 4th semester BBA program. The debate competition was a resounding success. It provided students with a platform to enhance their communication skills, critical thinking, and knowledge of current issues in technology, education, and the environment.
Report on QUIZ QUEST held on 4th December, 2023
The "Utsaha" Management and Literature Club orchestrated a remarkable inauguration event, featuring both preliminary rounds on 11th November and the finals on 4th December, 2023 aimed to establish the club's identity while encouraging a culture of scholarly excellence among the university community. Participants from diverse semesters and campuses within the BBA and BCOM programs enthusiastically engaged in this event. The primary goal was to blend entertainment with education, providing a platform for students to not only display their knowledge but also to celebrate their talents.
The preliminary rounds, conducted on 11th November, witnessed intense competition among participants from various semesters and campuses. Comprising three rounds, including written assessments and a thrilling knockout buzzer round, the prelims narrowed down the field to the top 6 teams for the finals. The competition showcased both dominance and tightly contested battles among the participants.
The culminating finals, held on 4th December, saw the introduction of an External Quiz Master who led participants through six challenging rounds. Five rounds involved oral questionnaires, testing the depth and breadth of participants' knowledge, while the final round featured a logo guessing challenge. The Quiz Master's expertise facilitated the emergence of clear winners and runners-up.
Inauguration of Management Club - UTSAHA
The "Utsaha" Management and Literature Club orchestrated a remarkable inauguration on 11th November, 2023 targeted at fostering unity and academic prowess among students within the esteemed School of Commerce and Management Studies. The club aimed to establish the identity while encouraging a culture of scholarly excellence among the university community. The event was inaugurated by Dean Capt. A. (Prof.) Nagaraj Subbarao, and Assistant Dean Dr. Truptha Shankar. They enlightened the students with their remarkable speech by highlighting the importance of the club and encouraged students to conduct more events.
