Dr. Krishnan Ramaswami is currently the Head of Data Science at Tesco. He is also a part time research advisor at the Indian Institute of Science. He got his Masters in Engineering from Indian Institute of Science in 1992 specialising in geometric modelling and CAD and his Ph.D from Stanford University in 1996 specialising in geometric reasoning and rapid prototyping.
Dr. Ramaswami has played a variety of roles as an entrepreneur, researcher, innovator, consultant, advisor and teacher over the last 25 years. At Tesco, he is currently heading the data science team where he is responsible to build data science solutions in commercial, finance and supply chain domains. Before that he was heading the search science team where he built solutions to improve the customer search experience using NLP and data science. Before that he was the head of Tesco Labs where they have worked on a planogram automation solution, built a VR walkthrough of a store, built a collaborative shopping application, worked on a store plan layout automation solution and applied for a patent. He is also a part time research advisor at Indian Institute of Science where he is helping them in solving manufacturing and design problems using machine learning and deep learning. He also helped them in building a 3d collaboration module and building 3d digital prototypes of science experiments.
Before Tesco he was leading 3D Solid Compression Private Limited for 12 years, a venture funded company that was co-founded by him. He is the inventor of VIS, a concise representation for 3D visualization with applications in retail, engineering, automotive, aerospace, education and healthcare. He is also the inventor of Visualite, a mobile interactive visualization platform for the enterprise market. He is the author of several publications in international journals and conferences and the author of a US patent.
He is passionate about technology and innovation and is interested in the areas of AI, ML, AR, VR, 3D Visualisation and geometric reasoning. His advice to the younger generation is "Stay hungry, Stay positive and Dream Big".
