Dr. Manjula N G
Assistant Professor
Dr. Manjula N G is currently working as Assistant Professor in Microbiology, School of Basic and Applied Sciences. Has experience both in research and teaching. She has worked as Research Assistant, Department of Neuromicrobiology and Immunology, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS). She has hands on experience on the detection of immunoglobulins by immunoelectrophoresis, cytokine-ELISA, AChR ELISA, SDS- PAGE and western blotting. She has done her Under-graduation and Post -graduation in Microbiology from Gulbarga University, Karnataka. A rank holder and gold medallist in UG and PG, she has been awarded PhD in Microbiology, Department of Microbiology, Gulbarga University, Gulbarga, with research topic entitled” Etiology of the urinary tract infections in pregnant women from different parts of Karnataka and their molecular characterization”. Her doctoral research work was entailed with Multidrug resistance pathogens, unravelled AMR genes for Beta lactamases of ESβL and MβL, sequenced and has been submitted with GenBank. Her studies have given an insight on the resistance patterns and treatment options using antibiotics in pregnancy. She has successfully guided two Ph.D. scholars in microbiological research. The doctoral thesis focused on “Etiological Agents Causing Respiratory Tract Infections (RTI) with Their Molecular Characterization”. The second, titled”. “Bioaccumulation of Heavy Metals by Tolerant Bacteria Isolated from Industrial Sites of Bengaluru,” exploring microbial resilience and bioremediation potential in contaminated environments.
