Inclusive Training – An orientation program with a difference
Getting into a university would a mixed bag of emotions for the students coming out of the schools or pre-university colleges. The new place, new people, new friends and professors would be a bit overwhelming for all the young minds. That’s when the orientation day comes in - a new day that connects a new comer of the university to their classmates, professors, mentors and roommates.
Along with the parents; deans, professors and mentors also share the onus of transforming a young mind to a responsible citizen and professional leader of tomorrow. With this concern, School of Commerce and Management of Dayananda Sagar University had conducted an informational & fun-filled a week “inclusive training” in their orientation program for BBA and B.Com new comers.
The objective of “inclusive training” sessions was to create an awareness and interest on Intellectual Engagement and Scholarly Inquiry, Professional Development and Leadership, Community Values, Expectations and Standards, Inclusion and Belonging, Health and Well-being, Affiliations and Traditions.
The training also introduced students on adapting to DSU Culture and Environment, Team Building, Managing Time and Stress, Developing Intellectual Capabilities, Research and Internships. Thus, training connected the dots of “how to make your dream real” and “what and how DSU makes you a best student”.
To add a streak of recreation, last day of the training was filled with mime, skit, and dance performances on the theme “cultural diversity without discrimination”. A special thanks to our beloved professor Dr.Anni Arnav and his team for planning and conducting this exclusive training in the orientation program of School of Commerce and Management, Dayananda Sagar University. Our dean Dr.Punit Cariappa and all the professors of SCM whole hearted welcomed the new students, to start their new journey.
