Attended a Guest Talk
College of Pharmaceutical Sciences Staff and Students along with nursing staffs attended a guest talk on “Counselling Skills” delivered by Dr.S.Kadhiravan, Dean-Social Science, Prof. And Head, Dept of Psychology, Periyar University, Salem, Tamil Nadu, from 2.00 – 4-00pm on 27/11/2019.
He spoke to the audience about the stress and anger management. He explained various behaviour of a human being and how the situations to be handled and could be controlled to be free from stress, tension, frustrations which are leading to suicidal acts.
Guest Talk on Analytics Landscape and Career
Guest talk on “Analytics Landscape and Career” by Premanjan Biswas, Senior Consultant, Venus Analytics, Bangalore, held at Lecture hall 1 on 27.11.2019 for Final year B.Pharm students at 11.30 to 12.30 am. There were around 52 students participated the event. Mr. Premanjan Biswas briefed about the role of big data in research. He highlighted about how big data plays a role in business analytics. He explained about predictive, descriptive and prescriptive analytics. He also explained about how data helps in decision making. He explained about the programming languages such as Hadoop, R, Python and Tablex which are used in healthcare industry. He also highlighted about the various fields in analytics such as non- predictive, predictive analytics and machine leaning.
Workshop on “Interpretation of Spectra- A Practical approach”
The Workshop on “Interpretation of Spectra- A Practical approach” was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University on 25th& 26th November 2019 at college of Nursing , Kumaraswamy layout, Bengaluru - 78.
The Workshop began on Day-1 with an invocation, soon after which the scientific sessions were started. In the morning session, the basics of IR spectroscopy was touched upon followed by an in depth understanding regarding interpretation of an IR spectrum. The knowledge gained was tested by resolving few spectra. The forenoon session was assigned to give a deep insight about the Proton NMR. Thereafter, interpretation of a ¬1H NMR spectrum gained principle focus and a number of spectra were interpreted to establish the information gained in the session.
The13C NMR loomed large in the morning session of Day 2. Assorted techniques in NMR namely, COSY, HETCOR, HMBC, DEPT, SEFT, etc. were touched upon. Greater emphasis was given to interpretation of 13C NMR spectra and the know-how was assessed by solving miscellaneous spectra. In the forenoon session, mass spectroscopy was expounded. Ionization techniques and mass analyzers were deciphered. Interpretation of mass spectra was delineated. A brush up of interpretation of all the 3 spectra put a period to the scientific session.
The delegates were proffered with scrumptious meal and refreshment. The event was culminated by endowing certificates to the delegates and parted with a hi- tea.
Seminar on Drug Delivery in Pharmaceutical Translational Research

One day national seminar on “Drug Delivery in Pharmaceutical Translational Research” at Karnataka College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru, was held on 23rd November 2019. The seminar was sponsored by RGUHS and APTI.
The seminar was attended by the 7 faculty, Dr.Josephine Leno Jenita, Dr. Manjula, Dr.Vimal John Samuel, Dr.Shanaz Banu, Ms.Seema, Mrs.Chinju, Mrs.Navya, 8 students from IV B Pharm., I M Pharm. and II M Pharm. The seminar was addressed by resourceful persons from academics as well as industry. It was focused on topics related to transdermal drug delivery systems (different methods), Biopharmaceutics and Bioequivalence, SUPAC guidelines and brief information about Artificial Intelligence in pharma industry. Faculty and Student of II M Pharm presented their research work in the form of e- Poster Presentation.
Guest Talk on “ Ethics In the Field Of Research”
A guest talk on “ Ethics in the field of research” by Dr. Ajay Pillai, Head Project Manager, National Centre for Cell Science,Pune-411007, held at Lecture hall 1 on 22.11.2019 for Final year B.Pharm students. There were around 46 students participated the event. Dr. Ajay gave us the input on the ethics required in the field of research. He also highlighted the difference between ethics and moral. He enlightened the Do’s and don’ts in Good manufacturing practice that we should acquire in the field of research. He also highlighted about the job opportunities that we get in the field of research.
Guest Talk on the Art and Science of Research Grants
A guest talk was delivered by Dr.Ajay Pillai, Head, Project Management Cell, NCCA, Pune on “The art and science of Grants Writing”. All the staffs of College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, DSU attended the talk on 22/11/2019 at 9.30 – 10.30am. The speaker briefed us about the art of writing a grant to any statutory body. The key points to be taken care while writing a research grant proposal. The do’s and don’ts of writing research grants. The budget to be categorized and presented before the committee, the expectations of the budget from the reviewer’s point of view.
Observation of World Diabetes Day
Faculty and Students (Anirudha PV, Sapna shree M, Varun S J, Ruhee Anmol K, Varsha K, Sai Balaji V Iyer) of College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University organized on Diabetes awareness camp to patients regarding the disease, diet, lifestyle modification, complications, ADR of a drugs, and the patient education was conducted regarding ‘foot care’ and ‘eye care’. A direct patient one to one interaction was also conducted to clear their doubts regarding disease and self care. On account of World diabetes day 14th November 2019, at Primary health center, Kumaraswamy layout Benagluru.
Seminar On Developing Culture to Achieve Excellence in Manufacturing
A seminar on 14th Nov 2019 was attended by Dr. Josephine Leno Jenita, Dr.Manjula D and Dr.Shanaz Banu with 3 M.Pharm students on “Developing Quality Culture to Achieve Excellence in Manufacturing” at Acharya Institutes of Technology, Bengaluru.
The session was started at 10.00am after the inauguration by Mr.A.G.Raghu, MD, Santhana Gopala Consultants, Mysuru, who briefed us on Quality culture. It was followed by Dr.V.K.Satheesh, Dy.General Manager, Syngene International Ltd spoke about the Human factors in developing quality culture in relation to GLP,GMP etc. Dr. C.S.Lakshmeesha, Pof, ABMRCP briefed about the Road ahead for quality excellence and check points. Shejil Balakrishnan, Director, Inventicure Technologies Pvt. Ltd. gave a talk on Quality by Design. The seminar was finally concluded by Mr.A.G.Raghu on Quality Metrics.
Report on International Conference attended by Faculty and Students
KrupaCon Pharma 2019 – International Conference On “Innovating The Pharmaverse:New Vistas and Avenues In Pharmaceutical & Clinical Domain” was held on 08th November 2019, at Krupanidhi College of Pharmacy, Bangalore. The faculty of College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University, Mrs. Sapna K Dongre, Mrs. Vastvikta and Mrs. AkshathaNadagouda attended the conference. This conference was also attended by the students of III PharmD (14), Pharm D interns (2).
The Conference was a very enriching experience as it covered the entire spectrum of Pharmacy. All Speakers were very good and gave a good insight into the recent developments in the field of Pharmacy and quintessentially the Healthcare Professional as a whole. Dr.Archana Mudgal spoke about the laws and legislations concerning Pharmacy Practice and the scope and scenario in India. Dr.Suresh Nagpal, the epicenter of knowledge and the foundation pillar of Krupanidhi Institutions ,a great teacher inspired students and spoke about his experiences and stressed upon the importance of learning and education. Mr.Kothandaraman Sridharan spoke about the importance of deglobalization and the possible impact of the Pharmacy profession in the entire world specially by Indian Pharmacists.
Dr.Jasbir Dhaliwal , University of Memphis... spoke about the topic-Blending Environments in the University Campus & Industry collaboration to speed up Innovation and Commercialization .He spoke about how Ph.D scholars used their vast experience and knowledge in helping to innovate the university campuses and make a living out of their ideas by getting funding from Industries while pursuing their respective PhDs in their field of interest. Prof. James F Jordan , University of Memphis, spoke about Immunotherapy Approaches ,Efficiency and Challenges and the challenges involved in Cancer Chemotherapy. Dr. Harsha Doddihal, Senior Oncologist ,Fortis Hospitals spoke about the advancements in cancer therapy and new technologies being used in cancer treatment and the ongoing saga of curing Cancer.
Guest Talk
On 4th November 2019, a guest talk on “Clinical Research – an overview” was conducted at Lecture Hall 1, 1st floor, CD Sagar building, sponsored by College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, DSU. The resource person Dr. Saraswathi, SS Bio Research solutions, expatiated to the convened final year B.Pharm graduates about the certification courses awarded in Clinical research domain that adds on value of merit enabling them to credentiate in Drug Developing Process. She has thrown a knowledge on insights of clinical research and urged the students to qualify themselves and become an active resource of innovative sciences.
