Dayananda Sagar University which was established through a State Act i.e., Dayananda Sagar University Act 2012 came into existence from the year 2015-16. The University started many academic programmes and admitted students from the academic year 2015-16.

University is empowered to confer and award degrees and other academic distinctions to eligible students.

The University has conducted its first convocation during the year 2017 to award degree to eligible students of the first Post Graduate batch. The first batch of UG students admitted in some programmes during the year 2015-16, qualified themselves and fulfilled requirements for award of concerned Degrees, by the University. 139 students were declared eligible for award of degrees by the University.

To award degrees to those successful students, Dayananda Sagar University organised its second convocation on Saturday, 15th December 2018 at at 11.00 AM, at Dr D Premachandra Sagar Auditorium & Centre for Performing Arts, Kumaraswamy layout, Bengaluru 560111, India. At the said convocation 139 students were awarded their degrees by the University. Among them, in recognition of their performance and achievements University awarded ranks and medals (Gold and Silver) to 18 students.

Prof. Pankaj Chandra, Vice Chancellor, Ahmedabad University, was the Chief Guest and delivered the convocation address. Prof Chandra, a renowned and globally known Management Expert is associated with, leading management schools across the country including the World Bank and with numerous committees setup by Government of India in various capacities. While tracing the contemporary issues affecting the society he advised the graduates to use their education for betterment of society. He exhorted them to use tools and skills to find solutions to prevailing problems for eradicating poverty and modernize the Country.
