Dr. Ravichandran KS obtained his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Burdwan (West Bengal) in 1972, M.S. in Thermal Turbo Machines from IIT-Madras in 1977 and Ph.D in transonic aerodynamics from IIT-KANPUR in 1984. He served National Aerospace Laboratories as Senior Scientist during October 1984 and September 2000, John F Welch Center, GE India as Senior Mechanical Engineer from October 2000 to February 2002, Safran India as Group Manager during March 2002 and March 2004, Infotech Enterprises, and Geometrics as Senior Consultant from April 2004 to June 2007, Ingersoll Rand Engineering and Technology Center, Bangalore as Head of Advanced Engineering, Chairman, Innovation Council and Council for University Relations and External Partnerships from July 2007 to July 2012, PES Institute of Technology and PES University as Chair Professor of Computational Fluid Dyanmics.
He is currently working as a Freelance Consultant in CFD Analysis for Engineering Applications and Innovation Initiatives, Consultant to Welch Technology Center, General Electric, Bangalore, and Enphiniti Engineering Solutions, Bangalore. He has published several research papers in Journals and Conferences of repute and delivered several lectures on the topics of CFD, thermal and flow simulations. His research interests include CFD applications (to aerospace, automotive, energy and advanced engineering industry), Validation of high end CFD simulation results (with analytical, numerical and experimental data) and Development of open source CFD codes.
At NAL, he worked as the Principal Investigator for projects titled “Hybrid Upwind Schemes for High Speed Compressible Flow Calculations” from AR&DB, “Development of Computer Code for Prediction of Flow Field after an Under Water Explosion” from NSTL, and “Shock Wave / Boundary Layer Interaction in 3-D Internal Flows” from AR&DB.
