Assistant Professor

Dr. Sachin Kumar B is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in School of Engineering, Dayanand Sagar University, Bengaluru. He focuses in the research area of synthesis of advanced polymer and ceramic nanofibers through sol-gel electrospinning process. Currently, he is also working on implementation of machine learning techniques for optimization of electrospinning process.

Dr. Sachin graduated (B.E. in Mechanical Engineering) from National Institute of Engineering, Mysuru in 2011. He did his post-graduation (M.Tech in Materials Engineering) from Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, Mangaluru in 2013. Later, he continued in the same department for Ph.D. under guidance of Prof. Anandhan Srinivasan and Dr. Sreeram K. Kalpathy (jointly guided by IIT Madras). He completed his defence in Jan 2019 and started working as Research Scientist with Vakksh Commodities Company Private Limited in Indore for 7 months.

Dr. Sachin is currently faculty for Mechatronics and Advanced Material Technologies subjects to Mechanical - B.Tech programme. He is co-faculty for Design, Thinking & Innovation (First year) and Modelling, Analysis & Simulation Labs in B.Tech programme. He is also the main in-charge for Hydraulics and Pneumatics Innovation Labs at Dayanand Sagar University. He likes teaching with research, which involves design and upgradation with continuous improvisation in the method and material. His hobbies are travelling, exploration of archaeological sites, and star-gazing.
