Associate Professor & Assistant Dean (R&I)

Dr. Arunkumar Gopu is an accomplished academician, researcher, and administrator with over a decade of experience spanning teaching, research, strategic planning, and academic leadership. He currently serves as an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean – Research at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), Bangalore, where he also leads international engagement as the International Relationship Coordinator.

In his leadership role as Assistant Dean – Research for over a year, Dr. Gopu has been instrumental in shaping the university’s research trajectory. He actively contributes to strategic decision-making on research policies, drives initiatives to enhance institutional research output, and supports efforts to improve university rankings. He leads and coordinates research activities across multiple schools, including Medical and Allied Health Sciences. His portfolio includes planning and executing university-wide Ph.D. admissions, overseeing research scholar management, research metrics analysis, and ensuring timely processing of all research-related files. He also administers the university’s Seed Grant Program.

Dr. Gopu’s research expertise spans Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Mining, Multi-Objective Optimization, Bio-Inspired Algorithms, and the Internet of Things (IoT). He has authored 18+ publications in SCI-indexed journals, international conferences, and edited volumes. His notable contributions include pioneering work on multi-objective virtual machine placement, evolutionary algorithms for cloud environments, and optimization-driven resource management—earning him recognition in the high-performance computing research community.

Alongside his research contributions, he has spearheaded several academic and developmental initiatives. He has coordinated High-Performance Computing Labs, contributed to career development programs, and played a key role in curriculum design for Cloud Computing in collaboration with AWS Educate. His efforts have supported student advancement through industry-aligned training and certification pathways.

With a Ph.D. in Cloud Computing from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai, and with prior academic appointments at VIT-AP, Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College, and KL Deemed-to-be University, Dr. Gopu continues to advance research and education in next-generation computing technologies.
