School of Law

Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), a private university established in 2014, is home to a first of its kind innovation-centered law school in the heart of India’s Silicon City, Bengaluru. The University builds on the rich legacy of the Dayananda Sagar Institution (DSI) which was founded in the 1960s. DSI currently houses 18,000 students across several disciplines. Located in Bangalore, the School of Law draws from not only the vast interdisciplinary resources of the University but also those of the city itself, affording students incomparable industry exposure. ADMISSION CRITERIA

ABOUT DSAT

DSAT stands for Dayananda Sagar Scholarship Admission Test, which is an entrance examination conducted by Dayananda Sagar University for admission to various programs such as B.Tech, M.Tech, B.A.LL.B., BBA. LL.B., and B.Pharm The test is designed to assess the knowledge and aptitude of the candidates in the relevant subject and is used to determine their eligibility for admissions. The scholarship test is based on multiple choice questions and the students who clear the threshold score are eligible for admission in University under scholarship quota.

Dr. PRASHANT S. DESAI Ph.D. in Law
Professor & Dean,
School of Law, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru

Prof. Prashant S. Desai is a former faculty member at the prestigious National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bangalore. With a distinguished career, he has served as the Chair Professor for the HAL DPSU Chair in Business Laws at NLSIU. Additionally, he has been a valued member of the expert legal team (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC), New Delhi. Further enhancing his expertise in the field, he holds the distinction of being the founding dean of the School of Law at MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (MSRUAS) in Bangalore. He also served as a drafting specialist for the National Public Health Law, 2017 for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi, and the Digital Information Security in Healthcare Act, 2018 for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi.

With 30 years of experience, I've held leadership roles as a Professor, Director, and Associate Dean at esteemed institutions like REVA University, Alliance University, and Christ University in Bangalore. Prior to that, I served as an Assistant Professor at various renowned law colleges in Bangalore, including Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Law College, Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya Law College, M S Ramaiah Law College, and University Law College.

Dr. Prasanta Moharaj a renowned Environmental Sociologist, serves as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Dayananda Sagar University, Bangalore. With five years of notable teaching and research experience across prestigious institutions including IIT Hyderabad, IIT Tirupati, and Hyderabad Central University, Dr. Moharaj brings extensive expertise to the field. He has also published several research papers in reputed national and international journals.

Ms Shivani Dutta is currently pursuing her doctoral studies from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. She pursued her BA.LL.B from M. S. Ramaiah College of Law, Bangalore. She completed her LL.M (Gold Medal) from National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA). She started her academic career with NEF Law College, Guwahati and as a guest faculty at NLUJA, Assam. Prior to this she worked as an Asst. Prof.at IFIM Law School & Christ Academy Institute of Law, Bengaluru.

He completed his B.L.S.LL.B from Government Law College, Mumbai, With prior experience at REVA University, CMR University, and Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Indore, Mr. Arjit has also interned at leading law firms like DSK Legal, Economic Laws Practice, and J. Navaruna, a distinguished historian and Assistant Professor at Dayanand Sagar University, is pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Colonial India's prison culture at Madurai Kamaraj University. With dual master's degrees in History and Women's and Gender Studies, she engages with an NGO in Bangalore supporting underprivileged children's education.

Ms. Akanksha Surana

Assistant Professor at Dayanand Sagar University's School of Law, heads both the Moot Court and Conference Committees. Pursuing her Ph.D. in Environmental Law at Nirma University, she was a founding faculty member at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences. She holds a BLS LL.B. from Government Law College, Mumbai, and an LL.M. from Institute of Law, Nirma University. Her interests include Constitutional Law, Environmental Law, and Family Laws.

With over 3 years of teaching and research experience, he served as a Researcher and Teaching Assistant at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. Before joining DSU, he held the position of Principal (I/c) at SS Law College, Chikkaballapura, affiliated with KSLU, Hubballi.
