Dr. Jayachandra K
Assistant Professor
Dr. Jayachandra got a merit seat at Kuvempu University to pursue a master's in biochemistry. After completing his Master's, he joined the University of Mysore as a project associate to study the importance of Plant latex protease on blood coagulation and wound healing with molecular mechanisms under the guidance of Dr. B.S.Vishwanath, Professor of Biochemistry at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Mysore. Later, he pursued his Ph.D. degree with the same mentor, where his research focused on investigating the importance of mitochondrial-targeted antioxidant molecules on secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) and LPS-mediated lung inflammation with molecular mechanisms. Soon after his Ph.D., he joined under Dr. Lella Vijay Mohan Rao Department of Biomedical Research Centre, Texas, USA, as a postdoctoral fellow. He examined how protease-induced extracellular vesicles would reduce the inflammatory response in an LPS-induced sepsis model, along with the molecular mechanism. Currently, he is working as an assistant professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), Bangalore.
Qualification: Ph.D. (Biochemistry)
Area of Expertise: Biochemistry and cell-signalling.
Research Interest at DSU: Regulation of Arachidonic acid metabolites on inflammatory diseases.
Awards and Recognition:
- Qualified for the State-level examination. Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) in December 2015.
- Qualified for the National level examination. CSIR-JRF in June 2017.
- NIH postdoctoral Fellowship from the USA for the project titled “Role of Gab2 on deep vein thrombosis”.
