Dr. M. Shahina Parveen is a distinguished academician, visionary leader, and passionate advocate for innovation, currently serving as the Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, she has significantly contributed to academic research, innovation, and entrepreneurial development. Her leadership is driven by a vision to uphold academic excellence while addressing contemporary global engineering challenges through innovative, technology-driven solutions.

Dr. Shahina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), a Master’s degree from Acharya Nagarjuna University, and earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from JNTU, Hyderabad. She is committed to empowering students with the technical skills and research mindset needed to solve real-world problems. Her teaching philosophy blends traditional educational methods with modern technological tools to nurture innovation and excellence in engineering education. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Dr. Shahina brings deep academic knowledge and practical expertise in areas such as C, C++, Java, MATLAB, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Neural Networks, Big Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, Design Thinking, Startups, and Patent Drafting & Filing.

• Contributed significantly to university governance as Chairperson and Member of the Board of Studies at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU).
• Served as a core member of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), actively participating in NBA, NIRF, and NAAC accreditation processes.
• Played a pivotal role in achieving NAAC A+ accreditation at the departmental level.
• Spearheaded the design and development of a forward-looking curriculum for B.Tech programs, including Minor/Major specializations in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Entrepreneurship, aligning with current and emerging technological trends.
• Championed Industry-Academia collaboration, strengthening student placement support and creating avenues for collaborative research and internships through partnerships with leading industry organizations.
• Led strategic planning, managed departmental budgets, and enforced policies aimed at enhancing the academic ecosystem.
• Advocated for faculty development and nurtured a collaborative, inclusive departmental culture.
• Remained deeply committed to academic excellence by teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, while also mentoring students and junior faculty in their academic and professional growth.

She has authored 30+ research papers in reputed journals and conferences, published a book, and filed 40+ patents across diverse technical domains. As a sought-after speaker and resource person, she has delivered over 40 expert sessions on topics including Big Data Analytics, Augmented reality , AI-ML, Entrepreneurship, Business Model Canvas, IP Strategy, Patent Filing, IoT, Cloud Computing, and Career Counselling.

Dr. Shahina has actively contributed to the academic community through roles such as Session Chair, Track Chair, and Organizing Committee Member at major conferences, including CENTCON 2022 at Dayananda Sagar University. She also served as a session chair for the National Conference on Emerging Technologies in Computing and Communication, Bengaluru.

In addition to her academic responsibilities, she has been involved in curriculum development as a Member of the Scheme and Syllabus Committee, IBM (Big Data Technology) B.Tech Program Committee Member, and Major Project Coordinator. She has successfully organized numerous initiatives, including Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, webinars on entrepreneurship and startups, industrial visits, skill development programs, and social impact activities.

Previously, Dr. Shahina served as the Head of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Department of Information Science and Engineering, CMR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Bengaluru. She also held academic positions as Associate Professor at Sree Chaitanya Institute of Technology for 4.6 years and Assistant Professor at BNM Institute of Technology for 7 years. She has mentored over 70 B. Tech student teams, earning accolades such as the Best Innovative Research & Dedicated Teaching Professional Award from ISRP, Malaysia, and an Appreciation Award from FKCCI Manthan for her guidance in student startups and business plans. Recognized with multiple accolades, including Best Paper Awards, Best Speaker Awards, and Best Judge Awards at various national and international events.
