Professor & Dean

Dr. Sunil S. More is presently serving as Professor and Dean in the School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University. He is also serving as the Dean and Director of Biological Sciences. Dr. More has a served in the capacity of Professor in Biochemistry and has good experience of 18 years in teaching and research. He has been awarded Ph. D degree on the topic entitled “Biochemical investigations in the venom of Palamneus gravimanus Indian black scorpion and emphasis on potassium channel interaction” from Karnatak University, Dharwad. His thesis and present area of research has been associated with inhibition of venom toxicity and characterization of medically important enzymes from microbial and natural sources. 11 Ph. D has been awarded under his guidance and currently, 5 students are pursuing Ph. D studies in DSU and 6 have completed M. Phil degree under his guidance. His area of research interest is in the field of Biochemistry, Enzymology, Protein chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Immunology, Clinical Biochemistry, Toxicology and Ion channel chemistry. He has more than 146 research publications in various national and international peer reviewed reputed journals with good impact factor. Dr More has a rich experience in analysis and characterization of small peptides enzymes production of medical and industrial applications. Venom research is another area where in characterization of medically important toxins enzymes from snake and scorpion venom and herbal antidote preparation for snake bite.. Dr. More’s research area also encompasses anticancer and antiangiogenic research with the screening, purification and characterization of anticancerous enzyme L-Asparginase and L- Glutaminase. He is also part of various collaborative research projects with scientists of eminence in research organizations of repute and is also serving as member in various capacities. He is the member of institutional biosafety committee of Aurigene Discoveries Pvt ltd Bangalore and Life member of Society of Biological Chemists,India (SBC-I) and Mycological Society of India (MSI) and Association of Microbiologist India ( AMI). Dr.More has completed 3 research grants from DST-SERB extra mural grant of 71 lakh and 10 lakh from VGST-SMYSR Gok grant.. He is a reviewer of several national and international level journals and is presently a member of the editorial board of 4 reputed journals.
