Mr. Mayank Singh Bhakuni
Assistant Professor
Mr. Mayank Singh Bhakuni is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru. He is pursuing Ph.D. (thesis submitted) in Mathematics from Vellore Institute of Technology, specializing in Operations Research and Sustainable Disaster Management. His research focuses on post-disaster humanitarian relocation, optimization frameworks for disaster relief logistics, and uncertainty management using advanced mathematical modeling. He also holds an M.Sc. in Mathematics from the National Institute of Technology Calicut and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics from Ramjas College, University of Delhi.
Mr. Bhakuni has delivered courses on Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Calculus to students from various engineering disciplines. Before joining Dayananda Sagar University, he served as an Assistant Professor (Fellowship) at Vellore Institute of Technology, where he integrated computational tools like MATLAB to enhance mathematical learning. His academic involvement extends to mentoring students and contributing to NGOs like the Kitaab Club, where he promotes mathematical literacy through interactive workshops.
He has published research papers in SCIE-indexed journals, including Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (IF 7.5), Computers & Industrial Engineering (IF 6.7), and International Journal of Industrial Engineering: Theory, Applications and Practice (IF 1.2). In addition to his research contributions, he actively serves as a reviewer for several high-impact journals, such as Applied Soft Computing (SCIE, IF 7.2), Computers & Industrial Engineering (SCIE, IF 6.7), and Environmental Engineering and Management Journal (SCIE, IF 1.2).
Mr. Bhakuni was honored with the Best Research Paper Award in the Data Science category for his paper titled “A Post-disaster Relocation Model for Infectious Population Considering Minimizing Cost and Time Under a Pentagonal Fuzzy Environment.” This award was presented at the International Virtual Conference on Paradigms of Communication, Computing, and Data Sciences, organized by MNIT Jaipur, held from July 5–7, 2022.
