Course Objectives:

The 5 day Smart India hackathon 2019 - Hardware edition conducted from 8th July to 12th July, 2019 at Dayananda sagar university, Bengaluru.

The Chief Guest of the function was Mr. Ram Mohan C, President and CEO of Happiest Minds enlightened the participants on how India can develop world class products and appreciated the intense work done by the teams in the span of 5 days using the facilities at Dayananda Sagar University. The function was presided over by Dr. S R Shankpal, Pro-Vice chancellor, Dayananda Sagar University, mentioned that this is the best way to learn to develop products addressing the needs of the country.

Dr. A Srinivas, Dean, Dayananda Sagar University welcomed the gathering. Hackethons are the best platforms to get the best innovative ideas from young minds, he said in his welcome speech.

Total of 16 finalist teams participated in this hackathon which were selected after rigorous screening from 30,000 teams. These teams worked on developing Hardware Product Prototypes to address problems specified by 5 Private companies: Bajaj Electricals, ITC, Kotak Mahindra bank, Mahyco and Vanderlande. Each team was given budget of 1 lakh Rupees to develop market-ready product and was mentored by design experts from respective companies.

The following teams were the winners getting Rs 1 lakh Awards:

1. Water Efficient – Air Cooler - Sustainable Environment - Bajaj Electricals Limited
2. Low cost payment terminal - Finance - Kotak

The following got Rs. 75000 awards

1. Telepicking Interface with item picking Robotics - Robotics & Drones - Vanderlande

The following got Rs. 50000 awards:

1. Reducing Cotton Picking Cost of Indian Farmer - Agriculture and Rural Development - MAHYCO
2. Intelligent Food packaging - Miscellaneous - ITC Limited
3. To have Self Charged Fans - Cost effective , Energy saving and very useful for end user // FAN - Sustainable Environment - Bajaj Electricals Limited
4. Multipan // NEKA - Food Technology - Bajaj Electricals Limited
