Mr. Shashank Shekhar
Assistant Professor
Mr. Shashank Shekhar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Data Science at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), Bengaluru. He holds an M.Tech in Data Science and a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, both from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Mizoram.
His academic and research interests lie at the intersection of cybersecurity, machine learning, and explainable artificial intelligence (XAI). His recent research focuses on cyberattack detection in 5G O-RAN networks, where he proposed a novel hybrid framework that integrates unsupervised clustering, deep learning models (MLP and LSTM with attention), and model interpretability techniques such as SHAP, LIME, and Integrated Gradients. This work achieved high detection accuracy and contributes to the development of robust, interpretable AI systems for network security.
Mr. Shekhar has also completed a certified Cybersecurity Program with C-DAC Noida, gaining hands-on experience in malware analysis, ethical hacking, and penetration testing using industry-standard tools like Wireshark, Nessus, and Nmap. His broader technical expertise includes Python, SQL, C++, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Power BI, Pandas, and scikit-learn.
He has actively contributed to national-level academic and outreach initiatives, including the New India Internship focused on rural technology development through a collaborative internship with IIT Madras, and serving as a Lead Delegate at the Youth 20 (Y20) Summit hosted by IIT Guwahati, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India.
At DSU, Mr. Shekhar is committed to student-centered learning, mentoring data science research projects, and promoting interdisciplinary innovation to address real-world challenges.
