Dr. Sumant Kumar Mohapatra, an eminent academician and researcher in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of CSE (AI&ML) at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), Bangalore, India. Before joining he is contributing significantly to teaching and research in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, IoT, Wireless Sensor Networks, Data Communication, and Digital Signal Processing. Dr. Mohapatra earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University, Bhubaneswar, in 2024, M.Tech. in Communication Engineering from BPUT, B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Utkal University, and a Diploma Engg. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Kalinga Polytechnic, Odisha. With over 20 years of teaching and research experience, he has published more than 80 research papers in SCI and Scopus indexed international journals, conferences,and book chapters including reputed publishers such as Springer, Elsevier, and CRC Press. Dr. Mohapatra has filed and published several national and international patents, with notable innovations such as AI-Based Night Vision System for Wrong-Way Driving and Lane Violation Detection (2025), AI-Powered Calorie Tracker (2025), and Smart Auto Charged Umbrella (2024 – Granted), reflecting his expertise in AI-driven intelligent and healthcare systems. He has received multiple Best Paper Awards at international IEEE conferences including and was recognized for his excellence with the Best Paper Presentation Award at the 4th International Conference on Computing, Analytics, and Networks (ICAN-2024) organized by Chitkara University, Punjab. He serves as a reviewer for several reputed international journals such as Signal, Image and Video Processing (Springer) and Cognitive Neurodynamics (Springer), and is an active member of professional societies including ISTE (LM61704), IETE (500407), and ISTD (M2116/2022). His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Biomedical Signal Processing, Optimization Algorithms, and IoT-based Intelligent Systems, with a focus on developing AI-enabled solutions for healthcare, automation, and sustainable technology.
