Overview:
The School of Basic and Applied Sciences (SBAS) of Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) offers M.Sc. program in Human Genetics. This program creates globally challenging environment and allows students to achieve excellence in academia and research.
Eligibility for M.Sc. Human Genetics:
B.Sc. with any of the following life science subjects such as Genetics, Zoology, Botany, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Anthropology, Anatomy, Physiology, etc. Students having degree in Medical Sciences, Nursing Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences are also eligible to apply.
Program Included:
The two-year master degree having choice based credit system provides a unified curriculum with specialized areas includes: Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, Population Genetics, Clinical Genetics, Biochemical Genetics, Developmental Genetics, Genetic Counselling, Medical genomics and Nutrigenomics. Final year students will take up the Project/Dissertation work in Hospitals, Research Institutes, Pharmaceutical industries, Biotech companies and in University departments. The following thrust areas will be concentrated to carry out student dissertation work, which includes: Genetic analysis of complex disorders, Estimation of Genotoxicity among individuals exposed to genotoxic substances, Molecular genetic analysis of Human Cancers, Human developmental anomalies, medical genomics and nutrigenomics. Program also provide platforms for extracurricular activities such as sports, cultural and community activities.
