Dr. Deepu Kumar joined the School of Engineering- Mechanical Department at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) on 2nd July 2025 as an Assistant Professor. Prior to joining DSU, Dr. Kumar served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, located in the IIT Madras Research Park, and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, under the supervision of Prof. Sivasrinivasu Devadula. Before his doctoral studies, Dr. Kumar completed his Master’s degree from the Mechanical Engineering (Computational Mechanics stream) Department at IIT Guwahati, guided by Prof. Mamilla Ravi Sankar (currently HoD at IIT Tirupati).
Research Experience and Interests: With over 7+ years of experience in simulation-driven process modelling and control, Dr. Kumar specializes in: Advanced Manufacturing, Process Modelling, Multiphysics Simulations, Hybrid Modelling, Data-driven Time Series Modelling (etching, fluid-flow, thermal, vibration), Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINN) for various industrial applications, and IIoT-integrated Systems. His research contributes to both academic and applied advancements in modern manufacturing processes for aerospace, defense, and biomedical applications.

Dr. Deepu Kumar has authored 11 peer-reviewed journal publications, 5 conference proceedings, and contributed to 4 book chapters. His research has attracted over 100 citations, with an H-index of 6 and an i10-index of 5, reflecting the quality and impact of his scholarly contributions. He has presented at reputed international conferences, including AIMTDR, COPEN, and PRIC, winning the Best Oral Presentation Award at PRIC 2022 in NTU Singapore. He has contributed chapters to CRC Press (Taylor & Francis) volumes on advanced manufacturing. In addition, actively contributing to the peer-reviewed process for the reputed Elsevier Journals, such as the Journal of Manufacturing Processes, International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, and CIRP Journal of Manufacturing Science and Technology. Furthermore, Dr. Kumar has led and contributed to several high-impact research projects in advanced manufacturing, simulation-based process modeling, and smart diagnostics funded by DST, DRDO, DRDL, and BARC.
