Dr. Dinesh S.M, is presently working as an Assistant Professor of Genetics in School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University, Bangalore. He obtained his Ph.D in Genetics (Human/Medical) from University of Mysore. He also completed MBA (Marketing) and Post Graduation Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) from Karnataka State Open University, Mysore. He is specialized in Human Genetics. His focus is on the genetics, genomics and personalized medicine. His key research expertise areas include: genome-wide association study, personalized genomics through whole genome sequencing and establishing gene-protein interaction network pathways for the diseases. He served as faculty in two different medical colleges. He is having more than Eight years of teaching experience for the students of MBBS, BDS, Nursing, Speech and Hearing and Biomedical courses. He has published several papers in peer reviewed journals by completing two research grants. He is also life member of Indian society of human genetics (ISHG), Indian science congress association (ISCA), Society of biological scientists of India (SOBSI) and Karnataka chapter of anatomists (KCA). He travelled internationally including America, Australia and Singapore for his research by getting travel grants from DST and ICMR, Govt. of India, ASHG (USA). He awarded Young Scientist Award from Society of Biological Scientists of India (2012 and 2014). He has been awarded Best Poster Award (2016) from Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) and Dr.Sayee Rajangam Gold Medal Award (2014) for the best research paper in Genetics. Recently he received developing country travel award from “American Society of Human Genetics” (2017). He delivered several scientific lecturers on genetics, genomics and personalized medicine in several national institutes and medical colleges. He is also member of advisory board for International Journal of Genomics and Proteomics.
