From the Principal, College of Allied Health Sciences:
The College of Allied Health Sciences, under the School of Allied Health Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru was started in the year 2021. It offers eight undergraduate programmes, namely, B.Sc-Medical Laboratory Technology, B.Sc-Emergency & Trauma Care Technology, B.Sc-Anesthesia & Operation Theater Technology, B.Sc-Medical Imaging & Radiology Technology, B.Sc-Renal Dialysis Technology, B.Sc-Cardiac Care Technology, B.Sc-Audiology and Speech language Pathology, B.Sc-Optometry and also one Masters Programme, MPH (Masters in Public Health). These programmes are designed to provide a committed stream of allied health care professionals who enable the delivery of preventive, curative and rehabilitative care of patients across various specialties at both national and international levels.
Throughout the duration of the programmes, the students are groomed and mentored by the skilled teaching faculty comprising physicians, surgeons, pediatricians, anaesthetists, intensivists, otolaryngologists, ophthalmologists, psychiatrists and scientists along with the dedicated staff for language studies. The curriculum is designed to meet the vocational goals thus enabling the students to have learning experiences in real-life scenarios right from the start. Further, the students are encouraged to actively participate in advanced learning activities like seminars and symposia that are also a part of formative assessment.
The College of Allied Health Sciences is housed within the parent medical school and the attached hospital that provides accessible, round the clock healthcare services across all the specialties of Modern Medicine to the local and the wider surrounding population. Classes are conducted in state of the art lecture halls, demo-rooms and practical halls and the academic progress of the students is rigorously monitored. The Central Laboratory, OT Complexes, Emergency Department, Radio-diagnostics, Renal Dialysis unit, Blood Bank and the community health training centers with advanced equipment provide the necessary infrastructure for nurturing the budding technologists and public health professionals where they get trained in their respective fields. Hostel facility is also available within the campus. Post completion, the specialized Medical Technologists and Public Health Professionals will have employment opportunities in their respective fields in the ever-advancing healthcare industry within and out-side the country.
