On April 25, 2025, the Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution, School of Law, DSU, organized a visit to the Bangalore Mediation Centre. Students observed live mediation proceedings, interacted with mediators, and gained practical insights into neutrality, confidentiality, and ADR’s role in fostering amicable dispute resolution beyond traditional litigation.

EXPLORING THE FUTURE OF DISPUTE RESOLUTION:
On April 21, 2025, the Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution, School of Law, DSU, organized a session on Mediation led by Dr. Pratima Narayan, Founder Partner at Techlawlogi Consulting LLP. The interactive session highlighted ADR mechanisms, emphasizing mediation’s role in timely, amicable dispute resolution and inspiring students to explore ADR in practice.
Expert Workshop Explores Criminal Law and Environmental Criminology:
On April 12, 2025, the School of Law, DSU, through its Centre for Advanced Criminal Law and Environmental Criminology (CACLEC), hosted a workshop on “Contemporary Issues in Criminal Law and Environmental Criminology.” Dr. Aishwarya Deb, Judicial Magistrate, West Bengal, shared insights on privileged class deviance, environmental crimes, and research’s role in shaping policy.

DSU HOSTS WEBINAR ON EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES AND DATA PROTECTION:
On April 8, 2025, the Centre for Cyber Legal Excellence, School of Law, DSU, hosted a webinar on “Understanding Emerging Technologies and Data Protection Issues” led by Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Associate Professor, UPES Dehradun. The session explored GDPR, DPDP Act, AI, quantum computing, and cybersecurity breaches, fostering awareness on tech-driven legal challenges.

SESSION ON STARTUPS AND INCUBATORS BY LEGAL INNOVATIVE RESEARCH CENTRE
On March 28, 2025, the Legal Innovative Research Centre, School of Law, DSU, hosted a session on “Startups and Incubators” with Mr. Vinod Shankar (CEO, AIC-DSU Innovation Foundation) and Mr. Satyanarayana B.V. CARROM TOURNAMENT 2025 | SCHOOL OF LAW, DSU
On March 24, 2025, the School of Law, DSU, hosted a Carrom Tournament featuring Singles and Doubles categories with enthusiastic participation. Kushi Kishor won Singles, while Sania Dennis and Farjad Sareer clinched the Doubles title. The event fostered strategy, sportsmanship, and student engagement through indoor sports.

On March 21, 2025, the School of Law, DSU, hosted its Internal Moot Court Competition 2025 on environmental and constitutional law. Students showcased strong advocacy, research, and analytical skills. The team of Kartick Kumar, Ben Antonio, and Jnanashree S emerged as Best Team, reflecting DSU’s commitment to practical legal training.

On March 14, 2025, the School of Law, DSU, hosted a masterclass on Contract Drafting & Negotiation by Dr. Pratima Narayan, Founder Partner at Techlawlogi Consulting LLP. Through interactive exercises, students gained practical insights into contract principles, negotiation strategies, and risk management, reinforcing DSU’s commitment to experiential learning.
WORKSHOP ON SOFT SKILLS BUILDING BY INTERNSHIP AND PLACEMENT CELL:
The Internship and Placement Cell, School of Law, DSU, organized a Workshop on Soft Skills Building on March 12, 2025, led by Mr. Amlan Bhattacharya, PowerSkills Coach at Capgemini. Covering CV drafting, LinkedIn profiling, networking, and career planning, the session equipped students with essential tools for professional growth and employability.

On March 10, 2025, the Cultural and NSS Committees of the School of Law, DSU, celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme “Accelerate Action.” The event featured poster-making, skits, and mime acts highlighting gender justice, creativity, and resilience, reinforcing DSU’s commitment to inclusivity and women’s empowerment.

WORKSHOP ON TRADEMARK LAW: PROSECUTION, PRACTICE, AND LITIGATION:
The Centre for Corporate and Commercial Law, School of Law, DSU, organized a workshop on “Trademark Law in India – Prosecution, Practice, and Litigation” on 28th February 2025. Led by Ms. Geethanjali K.V., Associate at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, the session blended statutory insights, practical prosecution steps, and case-based learning for students.
EVENTS ORGANIZED BY LEGAL AID CELL:
The Legal Aid Clinic, School of Law, DSU, organized a workshop on January 17, 2025, sensitizing students to social justice and welfare schemes. Sessions covered senior citizens’ rights, victims of acid attacks, and unorganised sector workers. Expert faculty highlighted NALSA schemes and legal frameworks, empowering students with practical legal insights.
On February 22, 2025, the Legal Services Clinic, School of Law, DSU, held a legal awareness program in Gotegahalli village to educate residents on legal rights, welfare schemes, and dispute resolution. Faculty and students engaged villagers through interactive sessions, fostering legal literacy and strengthening access to justice at the grassroots.
On March 17, 2025, the Legal Services Clinic, School of Law, DSU, organized a Consumer Rights Rally to mark World Consumer Rights Day. Focusing on COTPA, 2003, students spread awareness on tobacco hazards and consumer health rights, promoting informed communities and reinforcing the need for stronger legal enforcement.
On March 27, 2025, the Legal Services Clinic, School of Law, DSU, conducted a Legal Awareness Program at Spurthy Law College, Anekal. Covering issues like Fundamental Rights, women empowerment, cyber bullying, and consumer protection, the session promoted responsible citizenship and highlighted law’s role as a tool for social change.
Intra Moot- Court Competition 2024
The School of Law at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) organized an Internal Moot Court Competition on 30th November 2024, focusing on critical legal domains of Consumer Protection and Constitutional Law. The competition gave students an immersive experience, simulating real-world legal disputes to enhance their advocacy skills, legal reasoning, and courtroom etiquette. Participants demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication as they engaged in rigorous research, meticulous drafting, and compelling oral presentations. Judged by experienced faculty, the competition emphasized critical aspects such as legal strategy, articulation, and teamwork.
Kartik Kumar, a student from the 6th Semester of the LL.B. program, was adjudged as the Best Speaker, while Pallavi, a student from the 4th Semester of the B.A. LL.B. program, earned the award for Best Researcher. The Best Memorial award was presented to the team comprising Siva Shivani, Anoka, and Sindhu Shree, all from the 4th Semester of the Integrated and Unitary LL.B. program. The team represented by Ishita, Kartik Kumar, and Chaitanya from the 4th Semester of the Integrated LL.B. and 6th Semester of the Unitary LL.B. programs emerged as the Winners. Meanwhile, Team 017, represented by Chitrashree A. Acharya, Farjad Sareer, and Pallavi from the 2nd and 4th Semesters of the Integrated LL.B. program, secured the position of Runners-Up.
National Service Scheme (NSS), School of Law, DSU

The School of Law at Dayananda Sagar University celebrated Constitution Day on November 26, 2024, with an engaging program aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the Indian Constitution's principles and values among law students. Organized under the guidance of Prof. Bharath K M, NSS Coordinator, the event featured an inspiring opening address by the coordinator, followed by an insightful presentation by Jnana Shree S, a first-year BA.LLB student, who highlighted the historical significance and foundational role of the Constitution. Dr. Kiran Dennis Gardner, Dean of the School of Law, delivered a thought-provoking speech on the relevance of the Constitution to law students, emphasizing the importance of the Preamble's guiding principles. The event also included a collective oath-taking of the Preamble, reaffirming the participants' commitment to justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Concluding with a vote of thanks, the celebration left participants inspired and reminded them of their role in shaping a just and equitable society.
"Bridging Borders: DSU Law Students Participate in UOW Malaysia Law Immersion Program 2024"
An unforgettable journey unfolded as Dhanush K (BBA.LLB) and Keerthik L (BA.LLB) from the School of Law, Dayananda Sagar University, participated in the prestigious Law Immersion Program at UOW Malaysia from 10th to 19th November 2024. Hosted by the University of Wollongong, Malaysia, this transformative program offered a rich blend of academic insights, cultural exploration, and professional exposure. From engaging lectures and industry visits to cross-cultural exchanges, the experience broadened their horizons and strengthened their preparation for the global legal stage. Crime Scene Investigation Competition: Unveiling the Detective in Law Students:
The School of Law, DSU, hosted a thrilling Crime Scene Investigation Competition on November 9, 2024, with 13 teams showcasing analytical and investigative skills. The murder-mystery challenge tested logic, teamwork, and communication. Winners were Richard, K. Karthik, and Benantion. Mohd Rayaan won Best Suspect. The event was co-ordinated by faculty members.
-->VISIT TO PYRAMID VALLEY
The faculties of the School of Law visited Pyramid Valley, Bengaluru, on 28th October, 2024. Pyramid Valley International is surrounded by greenery and small hills. It provides an ideal environment for meditation and self-reflection. The 28-acre campus hosts the world's largest pyramid structure built solely for meditation, standing at 100 feet tall, equivalent to a 10-storey building. The Mega-Pyramid, a silent sanctuary of sacred energies, allows meditators to achieve calmness swiftly. The campus features several high-energy spots for meditation and silent retreats. The faculty experienced profound tranquillity and were inspired by the serene atmosphere. The visit emphasised mindfulness, spirituality and holistic well-being. Such visits help in appreciating the architectural beauty and give a chance to relax our minds.

Cybersecurity Awareness Session:
The School of Law at Dayananda Sagar University organized a Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar on October 16, 2024, as part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Led by Ms. Priyanka Vaidyanath, an expert ISAC Cyber Lawyer and Cyber Crime Intervention Officer, the seminar highlighted the growing importance of “cybersecurity in an increasingly digital world”. Ms. Vaidyanath discussed the rise in cybercrimes such as identity theft, phishing, and data breaches, emphasizing their impact on both individuals and businesses. She shared practical tips for safeguarding personal data, creating strong passwords, and identifying cyber threats. The session also covered the legal aspects of cybersecurity, stressing the importance of cyber laws in preventing and addressing cybercrimes. The interactive session engaged students, equipping them with essential knowledge to navigate the digital world safely while emphasizing the collective responsibility for maintaining online security.
Dusherra Celebration
On October 10th, 2024, the School of Law, Dayananda Sagar University, celebrated the vibrant festival of Dusherra with immense enthusiasm and cultural fervor, honouring Karnataka’s Cultural traditions. This grand event brought together students, faculty, and staff to revel in the essence of tradition and unity. A special pooja was conducted in the Dean’s Office, School of Law, DSU to invoke the blessings of Goddess Durga. Faculty members and students participated in the rituals, which included chanting of mantras and offering of flowers and prasad. The pooja symbolized the spiritual significance of Dusherra, emphasizing the victory of righteousness. The Dusherra celebrations at the School of Law, Dayananda Sagar University, was a grand success, fostering a sense of community and cultural pride. The event not only highlighted the rich traditions of India but also provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and strengthen their bonds with peers and faculty. It was a day filled with joy, learning, and togetherness, leaving everyone with cherished memories and renewed festive spirit.
Crime Scene Investigation Workshop at Dayananda Sagar University, School of Law:
The School of Law, Dayananda Sagar University, hosted a Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) workshop on September 30, 2024, led by Mr. Ananyo Mitra, Assistant Professor of Law and Assistant Dean (Research) from VMLS, Chennai. The workshop provided students with a deeper understanding of forensic investigation and its crucial role in the criminal justice system.
Students from different batches of LLB, BALLB, and BBA LLB participated in the workshop, gaining insights into the intricacies of gathering and analyzing evidence. Mr. Mitra emphasized how CSI differs from other legal competitions by requiring students to think like detectives. The event included an interactive exercise where students analyzed a fictional crime scene, enhancing their critical thinking and analytical skills. The session was well-received, with students describing it as an exciting and eye-opening experience.
FACULTY PRESENTATION DURING FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Faculty Development Programs (FDP) 1st FDP On 14th September 2024, the School of Law hosted its first Faculty Development Program (FDP) with a presentation by Dr. Sheikh Inam Ul Mansoor on “Balancing the Benefits and Risks of Traditional Medicine in Sports: A Study of Anti-Doping Controls and Compliance.” The session explored the intersection of traditional medicine and modern anti-doping regulations, focusing on how certain remedies used by athletes may conflict with anti-doping rules. Dr. Mansoor examined the benefits of traditional medicine for performance and recovery while addressing compliance challenges. Key topics included the use of traditional remedies, anti-doping policies, and the legal complexities athletes face. The session sparked an engaging discussion among faculty members on the legal implications of doping regulations and the need for greater awareness. This successful FDP set the tone for future knowledge sharing initiatives at the School of Law.

On 28th September 2024, the School of Law conducted a Faculty Development Program under the “Law Insight Series,” featuring Dr. Prasanta Moharaj's presentation on “Changing Climatic Conditions and Agricultural Livelihoods: An Impact Study in Jagatsinghpur District, Odisha.” Dr. Moharaj’s talk focused on the profound impact of climate change on agricultural livelihoods, particularly in coastal Odisha, which is vulnerable to frequent floods. The study combined field surveys and secondary data to assess the effects of climate change, revealing a reduction in crop yields and a shift in socio-economic conditions. Dr. Moharaj highlighted the growing threats posed by human-induced climate change and its disproportionate impact on rural, coastal communities. The session fostered an engaging discussion on the need for stronger legal protections and sustainable policies. This FDP emphasized the importance of addressing climate change through legal and policy reforms to support vulnerable communities.

On 26th October 2024, the School of Law hosted a Faculty Development Program under the “Law Insight Series,” featuring Prof. Stency Mark's presentation on “The Right to Privacy and National Security Concerns – A Comparative Analysis.” Prof. Mark explored the delicate balance between privacy rights and national security, comparing the legal frameworks in India, South Africa, and the United States. Her analysis focused on how privacy laws in these nations are often tested by government surveillance and security measures. Through case studies, she examined the different approaches to privacy protections and their implications for state security. The session sparked an engaging discussion on privacy breaches, surveillance abuses, and how democratic nations can safeguard privacy while ensuring security.
Prof.Mark's presentation set a strong foundation for the upcoming Faculty Seminar Series, enriching the discourse on fundamental rights and security.
Teacher’s Day Celebration at DSU School of Law
On 5th September, the students of DSU School of Law organized a vibrant Teacher’s Day celebration to honor their esteemed faculty. The event featured engaging games that brought out the playful side of the teachers, along with captivating music and dance performances showcasing the talents of the students. Heartfelt speeches and anecdotes expressed gratitude and highlighted the profound impact of the faculty on students’ lives. The festive ambiance, coupled with tokens of appreciation presented to the teachers, made the day unforgettable. It as a joyful celebration that strengthened the teacher-student bond and honored the invaluable role of educators in shaping young minds.

Orientation Programme of SoL for 2024-2025
The School of Law at Dayanand Sagar University recently hosted a vibrant Orientation Programme for its 2024-2025 cohort of B.A. LL.B. (Hons), BBA LL.B. (Hons), and LL.B. students on 26th August, 2024. The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and invocation song, followed by a warm welcome from Dr. Kiran Dennis Gardner, Dean of SOL. Chief Guest Dr. S.K. Prakash, Veteran Wing Commander and Legal and Regulatory Affairs Director (Telco), delivered an inspiring address, setting the tone for the day. Esteemed speakers, including Ms. Supriya Mathew, Vice-President of International Affairs & Admissions, and Ms. Shyamantha, Deputy Director of Student Affairs, shared their insights. The event concluded with introductions to faculty, committees, and key resources, including the Moot Court Society and the library, ensuring students are well-prepared for their academic journey.
From August 27th to August 30th, a series of engaging activities were organized for student’s development. On August 27th, the day began with a lecture on soft skills by Prof. Shantanu P, focusing on communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, followed by icebreaker activities, including a Name Game and Networking Mixer coordinated by Prof. Sakshi. The next day, August 28th, featured an introduction to Model United Nations (MUN) by Prof. Sakshi Mehta and Prof. Stency, alongside team-building exercises like the Tower Building Challenge by Prof Nithin Rajeev and a Legal Trivia Quiz by Prof. Arifa Choudhury. On August 29th, Ms. Sushma led a lecture on mental health, coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Inam Ul Mansoor, which was very helpful for the students as it highlighted the importance of mental health in our life. Finally, on August 30th, students participated in a campus tour coordinated by Prof. Prasanta and Prof. Bharath and Prof. Gajendra, exploring key campus facilities.
Independence Day Celebration, Dayananda Sagar University
Dayananda Sagar University, celebrated the 77th Independence Day on August 15, 2024, with great enthusiasm. The program began with the National Flag unfurling by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, followed by the National Anthem. The Vice Chancellor addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of independence and the role of students in shaping India’s future. He highlighted the value of education in preserving democratic ideals, while the Dean of the School of Law encouraged students to uphold the rule of law and contribute to nation-building. A vibrant cultural program organized by students stole the spotlight. Performances included patriotic songs like Vande Mataram and Ae Watan, a skit on freedom fighters’ sacrifices, and a dance showcasing India’s unity in diversity. Each act was a heartfelt tribute to India’s journey of freedom and progress.

Legal literacy program on the occasion of World Day Against Trafficking in Humans
On July 30, 2024, the Legal Aid Clinic of the School of Law, Dayananda Sagar University, organized a legal literacy program on the occasion of World Day Against Trafficking in Humans in collaboration with the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority and the Bangalore Urban District Legal Services Authority at the City Innovation Campus, Dayananda Sagar University, Kudlu Gate Campus, Bangalore.
The Chief Guest of the program, Mr. Varadaraj B., Hon’ble Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the Bangalore Urban District Legal Services Authority, emphasized the severity of human trafficking, stating, “the problem of human trafficking is very serious”. The academicians, law students, and the entire society need to work together to combat it”
Ms. Brinda Adige, Founder Director of Global Concerns India and Convener of Mukti Alliance Against Human Trafficking and Bonded Labor, participated as the Guest of Honor. She highlighted the importance of awareness to prevent exploitation through human trafficking, noting that women and children are primarily the victims. Dayananda Sagar University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Amit Bhatt, remarked on the unfortunate reality that human trafficking and bonded labor constitute a billion-dollar industry worldwide. Also in attendance were Dr. Sai Prasada, Dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communication at Dayananda Sagar University; Mrs. Shivani Dutta, Convener of the Legal Aid Clinic at the School of Law; Shyamantha, Deputy Director of Student Affairs; staff members; and students.

Free Legal Aid Program at Cheelur Village
On March 28, 2024, the Legal Aid Services Clinic team from the School of Law, comprising students and faculty members conducted a legal aid awareness program in Cheelur village, Kanakapura Taluk, Ramanagar district. The teams of Legal Aid Clinic distributed questionnaires door-to-door to assess the residents' legal knowledge and discovered limited awareness of legal rights and free legal aid services under the Legal Services Authority Act. Property disputes were found to be prevalent. Legal awareness and awareness on working of legal aid services clinic was created among about 60 respondents, including Gram Panchayat members.

Field Visit to Juvenile care home and Juvenile Remand Home
The field visit to the 'Juvenile Care Home' and 'Juvenile Remand Home' was organized on March 21, 2024 by the Legal Aid Cell of SoL, DSU with an aim to give students insights into the rehabilitation of minors within the juvenile care and justice system. Students observed the care provided to children separated from their families and learned about efforts to reunite lost children with their relatives. They also encountered minors involved in serious offenses, such as murder and rape. Through discussions with Custodian officers’ students understood that rehabilitation is the priority, focusing on personalized assessments, education, vocational training, and emotional and life skills development.
Essay writing competition
Essay writing competition was held on the occasion of International Consumer Rights Day on the 15th of March 2024, at the School of Law, DSU on the broad theme of "The Emerging Trends in Consumer Laws in India." Ms. Sunitha Chaudhary and Ms. Vaishnavi were awarded as the winners of 1st prize and second prize of the competition respectively.
