Program Overview: Bachelor of Design (B.Design)
The Bachelor of Design (B.Design) degree program at DSU is a comprehensive and dynamic program that offers students the opportunity to specialize in one of four competitive areas:
Program Structure
Students must complete a minimum of 160 credits + over eight semesters to earn their degree. The program is designed with an elective course , allowing students to tailor their learning experience with a selection of at least twelve elective courses.
Common Foundation
The curriculum begins with foundation courses that are common across all specializations, providing students with a strong base of interdisciplinary knowledge and skills.
Project-Based Learning
A major highlight of the program is its emphasis on hands-on, project-based learning, which includes:
- 1 Major Project
- 5 Mini-Projects
- 1 Research Project
- 1 Micro Project
Research and Industry Exposure
Students are encouraged to engage in research-based courses and projects to deepen their expertise. Additionally, an internship of at least three months at leading industries or overseas research labs is mandatory, ensuring practical exposure and professional readiness.
Continuous Assessment
The program follows a Continuous Assessment approach for performance evaluation, allowing students to demonstrate progress and improvement consistently throughout their academic journey.
Enrichment Activities
To supplement classroom learning, the program offers:
- Guest Lectures and Workshops: Conducted monthly to provide insights from industry experts.
- Industry Visits: Scheduled every semester to bridge the gap between academia and the professional world.
