Lecture on “The journey of a spiritual vagabond” by Srinivas Shastri

The School of Commerce and Management Studies organized an inspiring and insightful lecture on “The journey of a spiritual vagabond” by Srinivas Shastri on Tuesday May 21st 2019 at DSU campus 1. The lecture addressed how spiritual concepts and attitudes fostered by an Indian ethos give managers tools for stress management in corporate life. The lecture drew on insights from spiritual leaders like Ramana Maharshi, Shirdi Sai Baba, J. Krishnamurthi and Ramakrishna Paramhansa and also sayings from the Gita, Bible and Koran. All these insights influenced the guest lecturer’s personal career choices and gave him several spiritual experiences which he shared with the students, who reciprocated with queries and appreciation. The guest lecturer Srinivas Shastri grew up in Vizag on the edge of Infinity, on the Bay of Bengal. After his BTech in Mechanical Engineering at Andhra University, he studied at IIM, Ahmedabad in Systems and Finance. Shastri worked for 16 years, at NIIT (1987~1989), TCS (1990~1992), and Infosys (1992~2003). After some app development with Maars India (2004~2006), he retired. Shastri is a devotee of Ma Narmada and did the Ma Narmada PariCarMa in Nov~Dec.2018, covering 6,000 km over 27 days. His contributions to Google Maps through his many travels in India have got 32 million views

 

NSS Visit


45 students, faculty members and the Dean visited Haro Halli as NSS volunteers on May 2 nd between 2 and 8 pm. The agenda was getting to know the villagers better through a discussion session, entertaining games and a Street Play – ‘Save Water’. Our students spoke to the head of the village and exchanged thoughts. It was a good learning experience for our students. The villagers are looking forward to a helpful long term relationship with SCMS for their benefit.
