FDP on “From Case to Code: Writing Teaching Cases, Econometrics & Qualitative Analytics,”
The School of Commerce & Management Studies (SCMS) at Dayananda Sagar University successfully organized a five-day Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “From Case to Code: Writing Teaching Cases, Econometrics & Qualitative Analytics,” held from 28th July to 1st August 2025.
This academically enriching initiative aimed to strengthen faculty competencies in advanced research and innovative pedagogical practices, empowering educators to enhance both their scholarly output and classroom engagement. The FDP brought together experts and participants from various institutions, creating a dynamic learning platform focused on interdisciplinary research and teaching excellence.
The programme featured comprehensive, hands-on training sessions in the following key areas:
- Case research and teaching case writing: Participants learned the structured process of crafting compelling and contextually rich teaching cases aligned with curriculum and learning outcomes.
- Advanced econometric techniques: Sessions delved into empirical strategies for economic and financial data analysis, focusing on real-world applications using statistical software.
- Qualitative research methods and NVivo applications: The FDP provided practical exposure to qualitative analysis tools, including NVivo, for coding and interpreting unstructured data such as interviews, focus groups, and narratives.
- Text mining and analytics: Faculty were introduced to cutting-edge tools and techniques to analyze large volumes of textual data, aiding impactful academic research and insight generation.
By integrating both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, the FDP enabled participants to adopt a more holistic and evidence-based approach to research and pedagogy. The sessions were designed to foster critical thinking, data-driven inquiry, and effective knowledge dissemination, ultimately contributing to institutional excellence and academic leadership.
The programme was well-received and marked by active engagement, making it a significant step towards capacity building and professional development for faculty across disciplines.
