GUEST LECTURE ON CONFLICT MANAGEMENT AND NEGOTIATIONS – 21St March, 2024

A guest lecture on Conflict Management was conducted for BBA students on 21st march, 2024 featuring Priyanka Mehrotra, a seasoned expert in the field. Dr. Jyoti Mishra welcomed the guests and introduced the speaker. The key points discussed were Overview of Conflict Management, Communication Skills, Conflict Resolution Strategies, Goal-oriented Approach and Importance of Negotiation Skills. Overall 65 students attended the guest lecture which provided them valuable insights into the conflict management sector and its career prospects. The lecture not only expanded students' knowledge but also inspired them to consider a career in conflict management.

GUEST LECTURE IN BANKING, FINANCIAL SERVICES, AND INSURANCE (BFSI) – 19TH FEBRUARY, 2024

The guest lecture on Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) was organized for the students of BBA and B. Com to provide them with insights into the BFSI sector and its career opportunities. The lecture was held at Room No. F104 in Block – B, and it was delivered by Mr. Raghunathan. R, an expert in the BFSI sector with overall 4 decades of experience in the field.

The speaker delivered a comprehensive overview of the BFSI sector, emphasizing its pivotal role in the economy and its function in financial intermediation. Various career opportunities within the sector were discussed, ranging from banking and insurance to investment banking and financial analysis. Essential skills highlighted for success included analytical prowess, strong communication abilities, and a deep understanding of financial markets. Industry trends, including digitalization, fintech advancements, and evolving regulations, were also addressed. Moreover, the lecture outlined diverse career pathways available, spanning entry-level positions to mid-level management and senior leadership roles.

The lecture was followed by an interactive session where students had the opportunity to engage with the speaker. The speaker shared personal anecdotes and insights from their own experience, which further enriched the discussion.

Special Lecture Program on “Developing an Entrepreneurial Mind-set”

On November 6, 2023, the School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University hosted a Special Lecture Program titled "Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset." The event was designed to provide valuable insights and guidance to B Com and BBA students to create curiosity and to develop entrepreneurial mind-set. The speaker for this enlightening session was Jitendranath Patri, an Adjunct Professor at Dayananda Sagar University and the Head of the Center for Proficiency Enhancement in Entrepreneurship (COPE).

Mr. Jitendranath Patri delivered an inspiring and informative presentation, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of entrepreneurship. He discussed the essential qualities and skills required to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset and succeed in the business world. It was an interactive session where students had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions with the speaker. This created a dynamic and engaging learning environment.

The drive of this event was to provide insights, inspiration, and practical advice, encourage students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations with confidence.

In Finance “A” for “Audit” session held on 8th September,2022

The session “A for Audit”, was organized for the students who are pursuing professional certification courses i.e., CA and CMA in the School of Commerce and Management (SCMS) DSU. The session was attended by B Com (CMA) students and aspects related to audit in CMA course was discussed. The session was very informative for CMA students who are planning to appear for CMA certification exam in 2023-2024.

Personal Wealth Management Session held on 21st October,2022

Personal wealth and investment management is imperative as the cost of living has increasing significantly in the past and also due to pandemic like COVID-19 the uncertainty has also increased. So, to inform students about the personal wealth management and its benefits an industry session was organised at SCMS-UG, DSU. The session focused on management of personal finance and increasing the wealth and various ways in which an individual can increase the wealth by intelligently planning the investments. Ms. Vidya Ashok also taught about the various investment and trading options available – Mutual funds, Securities, derivatives etc. It was very interactive session and student got an opportunity evaluate their financial knowledge and financial behaviour

Town Hall – Industry Talk Session held on 25th February,2023

The session was conducted for the under-graduate students who are pursuing CMA/ CPA certification with their B. Com / BBA Courses. Students from more than 10 universities and colleges of Bengaluru attended the session. During the session the resource persons enlightened the students with the opportunities and the prospects related the CMA/ CPA certification. Students got the very opportunity to interact and network with the top level management of Miles and also gain insightful knowledge and the know-how on becoming a successful CMA/CPA.
