INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO BANGALORE DAIRY – 13/5/2024

An industrial visit to “Karnataka milk federation” was organized for first year BCom and BBA students by the School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University on Monday 13/5/2024. The objective of this industrial visit was to gain practical knowledge about the operations, supply chain, of a large dairy company.

Ms. Dhivya, the administrative head, delivered an introductory presentation outlining the company's background, product range, departmental structure, production capabilities, and market presence. The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) stands as the largest cooperative dairy federation in South India, owned and operated by milk producers from Karnataka State.Following the orientation, Students were guided to the processing unit where we witnessed firsthand the procedures such as pasteurization, homogenization, standardization, packaging, chilling, and cold storage. This provided invaluable insights into the production activities, processes, and technologies utilized in milk storage, packaging, curd, butter, and ghee production. The visit provided practical exposure to concepts Viewing the actual processes and interacting with company executives added a valuable learning experience for the students


Industrial Visit to TVS Motor Company - 18th March 2024

School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru had organized a visit to TVS Motor Company for IV semester B.Com ACCA and CMA students on 18th March 2024 at Manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. A brief introduction about TVS and their various plants located in Hosur and Mysore were provided and about the vehicles they manufacture or assemble respectively. Industry related process such as casting; assembly and conveyer belts were briefed along with TVS which is in collaboration with BMW motorcycles. In the due process, students got to know the supply chain process from raw material phase till the finished product of bikes as well as process related to manual test drives. Overall it was a wonderful and learning experience for students and they gained requisite knowledge and information about TVS Motor Company.


INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO HAL (HINDUSTAN AERONAUTICS LTD) - 07th March 2024

On March 7th, 2024, around 67 students from the fourth and sixth semesters of BBA and BBA (RO), accompanied by faculty from the School of Commerce and Management Studies Department at Dayananda Sagar University, were fortunate to participate in an industrial visit to Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), India's largest aerospace company. During the visit, a brief video highlighting HAL's history, operations, and achievements was screened.

Following the video presentation, the students were divided into three groups, guided through HAL's aerospace history rooms by the designated personnel.. Further, the personnel in charge elaborated on HAL's strategies for attracting and retaining talent, administering training programs, and motivating employees. The visit provided invaluable insights into different stages of aircraft production and HAL's management of large-scale projects. It was noted how various departments collaborate effectively to meet project deadlines, highlighting the organization's cohesive operational structure. The industrial visit proved to be highly informative for the students and met their curiosity satisfactorily.


Experiential Learning Visit – Business Taxation Course on 23rd February, 2024

As part of the experiential learning component of the "Business Taxation” course, the students of Dayananda Sagar University, School of Commerce & Management Studies, 6th Semester BBA, accompanied by faculty member Dr. Shruthi M P., embarked on a field trip on 23rd February 2024. The objective of this visit was to provide students with real-world exposure to various aspects of business taxation, including identifying registered and unregistered dealers, understanding GSTIN numbers, and calculating CGST, SGST, IGST and total GST payable. During the field trip, the students visited several shops nearby Dayananda Sagar Institutions Kumar Swamy Layout in order to observe and experience various aspects of taxation for business.

The experiential learning visit to various shops allowed students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the field of business taxation. They gained hands-on experience in identifying registered and unregistered dealers, understanding GSTIN numbers, and calculating CGST, SGST, IGST and total GST payable.


Industrial Visit to KSDL – KARNATAKA SOAPS AND DETERGENT LTD ON FEBRUARY 22, 2024

An industrial visit was organized by the School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University, to Karnataka Soaps and Detergent Ltd (KSDL), a manufacturing industry, on February 22, 2024. A total of 41 students from both First Semester BBA and B.Com participated in the visit. Mr. Rakesh, the company guide, presented a short video detailing KSDL's establishment and the sandalwood soap extraction process carried out at the Mysore plant. Following this, students were divided into two groups of 22 each and accompanied by the Person in-charge to the production line. Here, they received a brief explanation of the soap manufacturing process, including the various stages involved in extracting sandalwood oil using steam and condensation. The company's diverse product range, such as face powder, hand wash, detergent powder, soap, phenyl, multipurpose liquid, hair oil, massage oil, and baby powder, was also showcased. Additionally, students were shown sandalwood trees and briefed on the legal aspects of owning such plants individually. Overall, the industrial visit proved to be highly informative and satisfying for the students, offering valuable insights into the manufacturing process of Mysore sandal soap and facilitating practical learning through demonstrations, interactions, and information exchange.


Industrial Visit to Titan Company Limited on 10th February, 2024

The School of Commerce and Management Studies at Dayananda Sagar University arranged an educational excursion to Titan Company Limited on February 10, 2024, for first-year BBA and B.Com students. This visit to Titan World - Watch Manufacturing Company offered significant insights into the complex procedures involved in watch production. Its purpose was to deepen students' comprehension of the watchmaking sector, spanning from initial design to final assembly. Throughout the visit, students received a thorough tour of the premises, covering areas such as the production floor, quality control, research and development, and engagement with industry professionals. Overall, the excursion greatly enriched the students' knowledge and learning journey.

As part of the experiential learning component of the “Taxation for Business" course, the students of Dayananda Sagar University, School of Commerce & Management Studies, 5th Sem BBA BFSI, accompanied by faculty member Dr. Rajath B.S., embarked on a field trip on 7th November 2023. The objective of this visit was to provide students with real-world exposure to various aspects of business taxation, including identifying registered and unregistered dealers, understanding GSTIN numbers, and calculating CGST, SGST, IGST and total GST payable. During the field trip, the students visited several shops nearby Dayananda Sagar Institutions KumaraSwamy Layout in order to observe and experience various aspects of taxation for business.

Industrial Visit to Bangalore Dairy milk plant-13th September, 2023

School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University organized industrial visit to the Bangalore Dairy milk plant on 13th September, 2023 for 5th semester B Com (ACCA) students. The objective of this industrial visit was to gain practical knowledge about the operations, supply chain, and financial aspects of a large dairy company. Students had an exposure about the processes like pasteurization, homogenization, standardization, packaging, chilling and cold storage. Later students visited the accounting and logistics departments. The financial controller provided insights into costing, budgeting, auditing and working capital management practices. They also understood the supply chain operations like procurement, distribution, vendor management, sales and marketing. The visit provided practical exposure to concepts taught in accounting, costing, marketing and finance. Viewing the actual processes and interacting with company executives added a valuable learning experience for the students.


Visit to Agri Tech India 2023 – 26th August, 2023

School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru had organized a visit to Agri Tech India 2023 for III semester BBA and B. Com students on 26th August, 2023 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. Media Today Private Limited hosted India's Largest Exhibition on Agriculture, Farm Machinery, Dairy, Poultry, Livestock Equipment, and Cold-chain & Agri Processing Technologies in the name of Agri Tech India 2023.Students’ had an opportunity to explore creative technologies used in the field of agriculture and allied activities and gained knowledge about the business ideas and the marketing strategy. It was an interesting experience for the students as this event was out of their domain. The students overall had an enriching experience.


Industrial Visit to Dairy Day on 13th October, 2023

On 13th, October 2023, the School of Commerce and Management studies organized an enriching Industrial visit for 3rd B Com ACCA students to Dairy Day. The purpose of this visit was to give insights into the production process, quality control, and sustainability practices within the ice cream manufacturing industry. The Dairy day ice cream manufacturing is a well-established and state-of-the-art plant. It is situated on a spacious site with modern infrastructure to support the entire production process. Overall it was an enriching and good opportunity for the students to understand and to practically know each and every process in-detail and also gained requisite knowledge and information about the Company.


Industrial Visit to TVS Motor Company - 18th August 2023

On August 18th, 2023, the School of Commerce and Management studies organized an enriching Industrial visit for V BCom CMA students to the renowned TVS company. An enthusiastic group of 44 actively participated in this educational excursion. The visit showcased the prominent role of automation and robotic operations in the manufacturing process. Students learned about how these technologies contribute to efficiency, precision, and speed in assembling machinery and producing components like cylinders. Students gained insights into how technology complements the skills of human workers, resulting in a seamless and efficient manufacturing process. Also, students were educated about the importance of optimizing manufacturing processes for speed and efficiency. Further, this experience illustrated how dividing complex processes among specialized workers can lead to increased productivity and quality. This firsthand experience allowed students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world industrial practices.

Industrial Visit to India Energy Week and IKEA -7th February 2023

School of Commerce and Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru had organized a visit to India Energy Week and IKEA for B.Com ACCA VI Semester students on 7th February 2023 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. Industrial visits provide the students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. It exposes the students to current work methodologies rather than theoretical knowledge taught in college classrooms. During this industrial visit, students were exposed to numerous energy technologies and solutions, including renewable energy sources.

India Energy Week was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and in his remarks, he stated that ‘The energy sector plays a major role in deciding the future of the world in the 21st century’. The event was organized in various halls and had many hosts, like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, BP, Petronet and so on. One of the event's highlights was the display of various energy technology and solutions, including renewable energy sources. It was a fascinating experience for the students as this event was out of their domain. It also provided students with an in-depth understanding of the present state of the Indian energy sector and provided a place for business networking and idea exchange. On the way back the students also visited the Sweden-based company, IKEA, at Nagasandra. All of the things there were one-of-a-kind, and there were diverse displays of home equipment that inspired individuals to design their houses in a unique way. The students overall had a fascinating experience.
