GENDER EQUALITY WEBINAR on 05/03/2024

Dayananda Sagar University organized webinar on Stop Child Sexual Abuse-POCSO Act 2012 from 10.00 AM to 11.30 AM to SCMS UG program. Nearly 120 students participated from BBA and B.COM program. The main objective of this program is to create awareness for students regarding gender equality in the society. The resource person Ms.Hanna John, Saniya Mahajan, Asst. Manager, The Rakshin Project (TRP) focused on spreading awareness regarding the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012) and how we can prevent Child Sexual Abuse. It is a project by Sakshi, a Regd. NGO working on Gender Equality in India since 1992.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the GOI, and the Directorate of NSS signed a MoU with Sakshi (Regd. NGO, 1992) for conducting sessions in 40,000 colleges across the country to build the capacity of the youth with 21st Century skills to have preventive conversations within their families and communities so that we reach a social tipping point where child sexual abuse does not occur.


CONSTITUTION AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ASSOCIATED WITH NSS

Social Welfare Department from Government of Karnataka organized 2 days Constitution awareness campaign in Palace Ground, Bangalore. From Dayananda Sagar University nearly 72 Students participated in Constitution Awareness Campaign. This Program is inaugurated by Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri.Siddaramaiha along with different ministers participated in this program. Based on this program each and every citizen of India should be aware about Constitution of India for bright future. For this program across Karnataka from different Universities, Schools and Delegates have participated, most of the school children across Karnataka they kept some Constitution model as well as different model to educate the people, students, delegates and other citizens of India. Social Welfare Department organized this program very systematically and profession manner.They also arranged food for each and everyone who have participated in this program. Overall this awareness campaign motivated the students as well as delegates to read the Constitution of India for contributing to a celebration of our shared progress and commitment to a brighter, more inclusive future.


EXTENSION ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH NSS

Dayananda Sagar University NSS team had organized one day awareness program about sustainable practices and promote a greener tomorrow among students and the community through a Cleanup Drive, Poster Making Competition, and a Quiz Competition called “GREENER TOMORROW” on 17/10/2023 from 10.00AM to 3.00 PM. Around 31 students participated in this programme. Heddidarmetlu Village near Harohalli kanakapura Road, Ramanagara District was selected for conducting above activities. Students enthusiastically participated in all the events.


EXTENSION ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH NSS

BBMP Hospital of TR Mill have organized 3 days survey programme called Intensified Mission Indradhanush Programme-2023 from 6/9/2023 to 8/9/2023.Dayanada Sagar University, School of Commerce and Management Studies students from 5th B.Com CMA 11 students participated in this programme.

On first day that is on 6/9/2023 BBMP Hospital under the guidance of MOH and GDMO they formed into 3 groups and gave survey training to students. Based on the training they have allotted some areas which are near to Srinagar. Each group of students have visited individual houses and collected data from the resident. Remaining day’s that is on 7/9/2023 to 9/9/2023 NSS students went to different locality near to Srinagar conducted Survey.

The students of School of Commerce and Management Studies have been taken part in conducting survey of certain part of area, surrounding to Srinagar, Bengaluru. This survey was instructed and guided by a government hospital at Srinagar, Bengaluru. The survey concentrated on pregnant women, children with age group of 0-5 years for polio drop and population. This was under the guidance of Dr. Komala K.R MOH Basavanagudi BBMP,Dr.Vishal S.R GDMO TR Mill UPHC BBMP Bengaluru, Sister Pushpalata and other staff members.

From this programme students have learnt practical exposure of learning, where they can build there communication skill and confidence.


Visit to Keeranagere Village for NSS Activities, ‘Suggi, Farmer for a Day’ conducted on 21st February, 2023.

The volunteers from sixth semester BCom (ACCA and CMA) had an opportunity to take part in the Suggi, Farmer for a Day Program. Total 28 students from SCMS including NSS Faculty Coordinator, Prof. Rajath B S had visited Keeranagere village. Mr. Satish VAO, spoke about the sericulture process and explained the students each stage of a silkworm’s growth from the tiny eggs to the 6-day growth of a silkworm. It was an insightful experience for the students learn more about the silk industry.

Students also had an opportunity to interact with the residents of Keeranagere. The primary goals of the NSS camp was to inform the residents about various farming programmes and to inform women of their rights and various schemes that are available to them as well as the importance of health and hygiene. Schemes like ‘One Stop Center Scheme’ and ‘Shakhi’ Schemes, and sections in our IPC which was related to the plans was spoken about by our volunteers. Students also informed them about the protections and rights our government is providing for women around the nation.
