Synapse 2023 by college of Physiotherapy

College of Physiotherapy Dayananda Sagar University organised cultural Fest and Annual Day on 13 th and 14 th June 2023 .it was 2 days event were on Day 1 there were competition on Solo singing , Group singing , Fashion out of waste ,Pictionary.and Day 2 started with formal function were the chief guest was Dr Nandan Kumar, Director -physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre Bangalore. Guests of honor was Shri Galiswamy, Secrretary-MGVP Trust, DSI, and Dr Pushpa Sarakar , Dean SHS,DSU. The special invitee was Mr Rajnan, Movie artist and Mrs Shymantha Suryaprakash, Deputy Director Student Affairs,DSU.The formal function included Annual report presented by Dr Sathya Guruprasad , Principal,COPT,DSU which included stuudents and staff achievements.Dr Sunjyoth H S chairperson of student council SANKALP spoke about the journey of student council at COPT and the student council logo “SANKALP” and the Tshirt of 4 houses - UTKARSH, AIKYAM, ABYUDAH and PRAVAH was released by the dignitaries. The event followed by digniatries speech and Mr Ranjan , the movie artist took the attention of the crowd by his speech and also with his movie dailogues The event was further carried out by prize distribution for the academic toppers from BPT and MPT and literary event winner.after formal function there was Culturals events like Fashion show, Group dance and then over all trophy was announced based on the highest score among 4 group.

College of Physiotherapy, DSU creates awareness among the public on ' NO SMOKING DAY' by organizing a street play on 11th March 2022.


"Assistive Devices for Special Children, Locomotive Disabled and Elderly"


On 17th February 2022, FITITOUT SOLUTIONS with a team of Engineers graduated from Anna University, Chennai and a team of automotive manufacturers with experience of 3.5 years in associations with DEBRI Foundation, Bangalore visited College Of Physiotherapy, Dayananda Sagar University.
The visit was focused on an interactive session on developing Active Wheelchairs and Standing Wheelchairs focusing on Spinal cord injured persons, Polio and Special children. These wheelchairs may be customized and are aimed to provide independence in standing and sitting with proper posture and less effort.
The physiotherapy team contributed by giving inputs on the preferred modifications in order to make the wheelchair more comfortable for the patient as per individual needs, affordability and durability. Specific modifications such as ground clearance, issues related to the centre of gravity, trunk stability, width of seat, head support, arm strength, toileting, transport,etc were discussed.
Overall it was a great experience and a fruitful session.

    An Event was organized by College of Physiotherapy, DSU on account of World Stroke day on 29th Oct 2021 at Government maternity Hospital, N R Colony Bengaluru. The event was to create awareness regarding preventive measures of stroke among the general population. The Physiotherapy students with the faculty and other staff of College of Physiotherapy supported the program and started with the interaction with the public followed by brief introduction about stroke, signs and symptoms, prevention, burden of stroke on family, society, individual and its Physiotherapy management.

    International Day of Disabled Person on 03rd Dec 2021


    On account of International Day of Disabled Person on 03rd Dec 2021 an event of access audit was organized by College of Physiotherapy, DSU at Government Model Primary School Jaraganahalli Kanakapura road, Bangalore. The faculty & students started the program with assessing accessibility for disabled people under the following domain

    • Physical accessibility: Parking, Alighting
    • Internal environment: access entrance, reception and lobby, stairs, ramp, handrail, corridors, doors & doorways, accessible toilet, drinking water facility, signage, classroom
    • Emergency evacuation

    WORLD PHYSIOTHERAPY DAY 2021


    The College of Physiotherapy, Dayananda Sagar University commemorated World Physiotherapy Day on the 8th of September 2021. The event started with a Pilates session followed by Zumba participated by around 300 students and staff.

    The occasion was graced by Dr. Pushpa Sarkar, Dean-School of Allied Health Sciences, DSU, who delivered a strong encouraging message to all the Physiotherapy students and highlighted on the importance of a Physiotherapist in the healthcare sector and concluded quoting "A Physician may give life, but a Physiotherapist makes life worth living ...” Ms. Asha Nayak, Chief Physiotherapist, Sagar Hospitals Jayanagar, Mr. Girish, Chief Physiotherapist, Sagar Hospitals Banashankari, Ms. Nivedha, Physiotherapist and fitness trainer were among the guests who graced the event. The Introduction of this year's World Physiotherapy Day theme “Long COVID " was given by Dr. Srihari Sharma, Associate Professor, and Principal-in charge, COPT, DSU who emphasized on the humble beginning of the Physiotherapy profession and the much evolved phase where it stands now.He appreciated the contribution of the students of COPT for actively volunteering to be COVID 19 warriors during the pandemic.

International Day of Yoga 2021


The College of Physiotherapy, DSU takes pleasure in organizing International Day of Yoga 2021 will be celebrated on Monday, June 21, 2021. The theme for the current year is "Yoga at home and Yoga with family". Padmashree Dr. B N Gangadhar, Professor of Psychiatry and former Director, NIMHANS will deliver the keynote address and Dr. Pushpa Sarkar, Dean, School of Allied Health Sciences will preside. The event will be accompanied with a session of Yoga demonstration and practice lead by Dr. Srihari Sharma K N, Assistant Professor, College of Physiotherapy.

Seminar on "Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Education


Report of Workshop:

The Seminar on Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Education was organized by NAAC- IQAC and College of Physiotherapy, Dayananda Sagar University on 01st January 2020 at CS Gallery room DSCE, building no 13 ground floor, Kumaraswamy Layout, Bengaluru - 78. The speakers are Dr.Chandrashekar Janakiram, Prof and HOD, Dept of Public Health Dentistry, Amritha School of Dentistry, Kochi and Dr.Nagesh Prof and HOD, Dept of Public Health Dentistry, DSCDS respectively

The session started with a welcome note by our pro vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. K. Muthuchelianand Dr. Anil T John, Principal (College of Physiotherapy, DSU).

The workshop comprised of two sessions, in which the first session was held by Dr. Chandrashekhar. He presented scientific values, misconduct in research and emphasized on fabrication, falsification and plagiarism (FFP) talking about a few studies which prove the existence of FFP. He also explained the effect of plagiarism and causes of why it still happens in the research field, while also talking about “white bull effect” and how the research is plagiarized without taking permission or giving credit for ideas taken, or because they are under pressure or in order to improve their place in the research field for having number of publication for which he also gave examples of various studies which misconduct their studies. He also stated, how fake studies or plagiarism are more common in biomedical field of science and how to check for plagiarism and various available resources for it and the problems faced by South Asian researchers in publishing their articles in standard journals. 

The second session was preceded over by Dr Nagesh who enlightened us about the topic – The academic integrity and professional values. He started by talking about the values important in professional aspect where how we being in academics play a crucial role in practice and teaching these values to students. Talking about the different values he focused more on the values like honesty and trust, by also talking to us about some great stories by great leaders in the past and how it brings a difference in the profession and how essential it is. He also stated about how in the current era it is fading. He also put forward his clinical experience and exposure and real-life experiences in order to adapt these values in our day-to-day life as well as it’s need in our profession. He conducted by co-relating spirituality and the basis of research integrity and to make it a blend for conducting a good research.

Pulse polio program


Staff & Students from College of Physiotherapy participated in Pulse polio program which was held on 19/1/2020 to 22/1/2020, volunteers were assigned at different booths & door to door vaccination and survey was conducted.


DSU Physio Cup 2020


Collage of physiotherapy, school of health sciences, Dayananda Sagar University organized the 6th edition of premiere cricket tournament of physiotherapy colleges on 30th & 31st of January 2020 at DSI Cricket grounds, kumaraswamy layout, Bangalore – 78.

Three prestigious universities of Karnataka took part in the tournament (Dayananda Sagar University, Garden City University and various colleges from Rajeev Gandhi University) total of 15 colleges.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Hemanth, Principal dental sciences, DSI and senate member of RGUHS.

The tournament was a knock out basis, total of 15 matches were held in the span of two days.

Quarter finals, semifinals and finals were held on 31st of January 2020.

Event was concluded by valedictory function which was presidented by Honorable secretary, Sri Galiswamy, DSI & Dr. Anil T John, Principal College of physiotherapy, Dr Vinod Kumar, event organizer and other faculty remembers of college of physiotherapy, DSU.


Spelling Bee Competition


Volunteer support & The College had been a partner in the conduct of the MaRRS Intellectual Services Pvt. Ltd. for the "MaRRS International Spelling Bee is currently the largest motivated learning program and challenge in English in the world. Every year, over a thousand students from across the world participate in the National & International Championships of the MarRRS International Spelling Bee”.

The Inauguration ceremony of BPT for the academic year 2019 ensued on 03rd October, 2019. It was organized in the digital Library of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. The chief guest pro vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. K. Muthuchelian and Sri Galiswamy Secretary, DSI invited to grace us with their presence. The ceremony started with the lighting of the lamp by all guests and our faculty.
